1.5" level kit?

New owner and thinking of doing the 1.5" AS puck as well, but I do plan on getting slightly bigger tires at some point soon. I hadn't heard about this but would that be a big issue?
All tires are not created equal when it comes to actual size, width and weight. For example Mickey Thompson tires are wider and heavier than most others in the exact same tire size. Falken Wildpeak AT4W also tends to be larger and heavier. Both great tires but the heavier a tire is the slower the truck is to move, it negatively impacts fuel mileage and it’s harder on brakes and suspension. One of the lightest AT tire options I have found is the Toyo AT3. 1 lb of rotational weight is equal to 10 lbs of weight in a vehicle. So if you upgrade tires and add 10 lbs heavier tires per corner that’s equal to adding 400 lbs to the truck when you’re driving around. It’s one of the reasons manufacturers always use harder lighter weight tires on vehicles. It’s lowers the emission carbon output and improves the fuel mileage numbers. Wheels and tires are rarely really understood by the consumer. Most people just buy according to looks and price. Lifts have a similar negative affect on fuel mileage as well. The rake looks terrible but helps with load carrying and fuel mileage. I lost about 1 mpg freeway with the 1.5” leveling lift. Was it worth it, to me yes, to my wallet no.

the main thing is to watch the tire weights. Every lb of increase is equal to 10 in the vehicle. It’s harder for the suspension to control the wheel movement and harder on the brakes to stop the vehicle.

Thanks for the reply and info you provided in this thread! I never thought to look at tire weight as a variable, definitely will when the time comes. First I need to make a decision on doing these pucks, given I only want a small level it's probably my best option, don't do a lot of off roading.

I researched heavily on the tire weight subject and wound up with someATIII’s on my last truck. They were very comfortable and behaved exceptionally on wet roads. Another variable is load rating and the weight differences. Toyo offers multiple ratings along with BFG and some others. But yea the weight differences is huge with the Toyos. My only gripe was not full depth siping on them. At 40k the middle block sipes were almost gone and the trusted surefootedness in the wet went away and I replaced them at 43K with still 8/32” on them. I drive to get where I’m going no nonsense and the PNW is not a place to gamble with worn tires. But yeah, Researching weights the Toyo’s are lighter by a lot than say a BFG. My last set were the KO3’s and my fuel mileage went down 1-2 MPG’s

I don’t do serious off-roading either and the 1.5” pucks were what I did. It fixes the rake which was the big point for me. I’m happy with the result for the cost. But if I keep the truck and put bigger tires on. I’ll be swapping to coilovers instead. Mainly because I’m not a fan of the floaty feel of the factory shocks. The valving is for comfort and not control. It works for the stock wheel set up but with heavier tires I would definitely upgrade to Something better.

And you’ve got a whipple right? I go back and forth on sizing up tires. That extra weight has got to be a killer. Seems like a gear change to 4.10s would also be a wise choice after sizing up.

I think the 3.73s are/were fine. It probably depends on where you live and drive. It was noticeable before the Whipple but not after 😃.

I really wanted 35” tires to max ground clearance and roll over things a little easier. But now I think the 0.6” smaller tires would be ok. The falkens weigh 63lbs.

I've been really eyeing the baja boss MT ATs 35x12.5 and they are 69lbs. May need to rethink my decision unless I'm also ready to pull the trigger on a blower.
 
I just ordered the 2” Autospring. They make the offset kit for Tremors and looks to be a good choice for a not so off roading application. This guy does an install and shows the offset design well
 
Had the 1.5" installed, I like it a lot and feels the same as others have reported. It looks pretty level to me as well so I'm happy for the lower stress on suspension geometry. Just sharing my experience, cheap and easy result if you don't off-road much.
