All tires are not created equal when it comes to actual size, width and weight. For example Mickey Thompson tires are wider and heavier than most others in the exact same tire size. Falken Wildpeak AT4W also tends to be larger and heavier. Both great tires but the heavier a tire is the slower the truck is to move, it negatively impacts fuel mileage and it’s harder on brakes and suspension. One of the lightest AT tire options I have found is the Toyo AT3. 1 lb of rotational weight is equal to 10 lbs of weight in a vehicle. So if you upgrade tires and add 10 lbs heavier tires per corner that’s equal to adding 400 lbs to the truck when you’re driving around. It’s one of the reasons manufacturers always use harder lighter weight tires on vehicles. It’s lowers the emission carbon output and improves the fuel mileage numbers. Wheels and tires are rarely really understood by the consumer. Most people just buy according to looks and price. Lifts have a similar negative affect on fuel mileage as well. The rake looks terrible but helps with load carrying and fuel mileage. I lost about 1 mpg freeway with the 1.5” leveling lift. Was it worth it, to me yes, to my wallet no.
the main thing is to watch the tire weights. Every lb of increase is equal to 10 in the vehicle. It’s harder for the suspension to control the wheel movement and harder on the brakes to stop the vehicle.
