V8 is cool, but the 3.5 turbo is far superior imo, in just about every way except maybe how it sounds and that's subjective. They only sell v8s for the people that still just can't accept a V6 turbo even if its better. That's just my take though.

I forget my trucks not a V8, and after the livernois tune, it's cost you a lot more to get a V8 anywhere near that in performance, towing, and mpg. Even without the tune the V6 is faster and tows better

Agreed! My 2013 F150 FX4 had the 5.0 v8 and the 2017 F150 Lariat Ecoboost I have now (until the Tremor arrives) would run circles around that v8. Sure made me a believer!

How’s the mileage with the tune? Any Cons?

Agree with the posts above. I was skeptical of the 3.5TT but after my 2015 I have no problem with a V6 in a truck.
Also, it’s so cheap to make mounds of power with a turbo motor.

Absolutely agree. Especially for my use at 5k ft elevation the Turbo runs circles around a normally aspirated V8. That's the whole reason I started this nasty process of ordering a truck was specifically to get the Ecoboost and get rid of my V8 after using my Brother In-Laws to tow our boat. One trip up the canyon and I was sold!

But I know that others love the V8 and that's what they wanted. So good on Ford for making that change.

I'm reading conflicting reports (google) that the tremor will remain exclusive with a 3.5, and the rattler will have a 2.7 standard with the 5.0 option.
3.5, better or not, I'd prefer a 5.0 in the tremor. More consistent gas mileage and less moving parts.

It's standard with the 5.0... you can see in the original post I put a screen shot of the order book for 2023 and it lists the engine options.

I see that, there claims the order sheet is a typo, I'm all for the 5oh, I prefer it.

I assume their thinking of dropping the 400A is that it is too similar to the new Rattler? But that's just a guess...
They dropped the bottom trim on a few of the other models as well.

From what I've read on Ford sources, both Tremor and Rattler will offer 3.5 and 5.0.

The 5 point slow, just needs a little blow. That's what I would do

That's all you need for the Tremor to have Raptor-R type performance!

Lots of debate, which is expected because this really is a battle of preference...

Statistically speaking though, the 3.5 EB is a better engine overall and pound for pound. It just won't sound cool (to some). The EB outperforms the 5.0 in every category up to 5500 RPM, which is where smaller turbos start to struggle; even then it's close (low to mid the EB destroys the 5.0).

"Put a supercharger on it, then talk to me" - ok, yea that would make it better, but put the 10k into an EB and we have a repeat discussion from above but now we can talk about parasitic load among other things.

The EB is the best engine for our vehicles and their intended use. It's statistics. But, again also preference.

Just like the fact is you can buy a lower model truck and put the money difference into it and outperform the Raptor R for less than MSRP.....but then you don't own a "Raptor R".

These discussions will never be put to rest because we like what we like lol. Just my 2 cents.

It's too bad Ford didn't offer the high-output ecoboost motor for the Tremor. Especially after Ford announced it for the new Timberline Expedition.

I had hoped for that too, but maybe they don't want to further blur the lines between the 402A and Raptor. Also makes the Limited less exclusive.
