Special Service Message · SSM 55294

This is a Special Service Message, not a recall. SSMs are informational notes Ford sends dealers about a known condition or a change in procedure. They are not repair orders, and they don't by themselves change what is covered.

Published: Oct 28, 2026
Applies to: F-150 (2026 model year)

Summary (official text)

Some 2026 F-150 PowerBoost vehicles may exhibit an intermittently illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0418 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Customers may also experience inoperative regenerative braking which may result in reduced fuel economy. This may be due to the software calibration in the PCM. This condition does not affect vehicle durability, and no additional diagnosis or service is required at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected by the end of Q1 2027. Replacement/reprogramming of the PCM or anti-lock brake system (ABS) module will not resolve this condition. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for updates. If the vehicle exhibits this condition, click on the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)" link at the upper right of the PTS Vehicle ID screen (vehicle identification number [VIN] required) and fill out the form, referencing this article number in the text. Do not use the "Report A Problem" link to submit a report for this condition.
