285/75R18 on stock wheels rub

I guess those tires are a little bigger than mine. I fit AT4Ws which are 34.8x11.6

What about getting an RCI skid plate and going back to OEM offset? The RCI doesn’t cover as much but it’s probably that or different tires. I looked at grinding my skid plate but you have to take off the lip which would weaken it significantly. My biggest issue with the RCI is that it doesn’t protect the LCA mounts but those are big and steel sooooo…

Oh that’s interesting! I’ll have to look into it. Thanks, again!

Have you checked to see if theres any play with the skid plate mounting? I haven't had this one off yet, but on our old H3 there was some play to push it forward. Good luck either way.

Curious what that looks like on the truck?
Pics attached. I noticed that the tires rub the OEM skid at the very back so it might be feasible to cut some clearance without weakening it too much. For the clearance number I have a 1.5” lift and 34.8” tires.

I bet everyone running 285, 295 or 11.5, 12.5 tires on OEM wheels has this same problem rubbing the skid plate and only a few are paying attention enough to notice.

Well I'll let ya know because tomorrow I am having my Halo Stage 1 kit put on with SPC UCAs. I am mounting Falken Wildpeaks RTs on my stock wheels. The tire is a 34.5 x 11.6 so it's gonna be close. I'm hoping there will be no trimming needed and that everything is free and clear. the level kit should be able to give me 2"

please do let us know, I’m planning for the same configuration.

@Sparkle_Tooth thanks for the report! I wonder why you aren't rubbing on the OE skidplate and others are? Is the 2025 different than the 2021-2023? Do you have the SPC upper control arms? Could you post your alignment specs?

Are you talking about 285/70/18 and 295/70/18 tires?

Just talking 295/70/18....sorry to confuse the discussion. I posted a few posts up that it would be a 34.5" x 11.6" tire
It's a heavier tire than the AT4W in the same size though I do prefer the actual dimensions in relation. 295/70/18 AT4W is 34.3x12.2.

I’m sure there are TREMOR owners who are running said tire size with no rubbing issues at all.
The rubbing issue might happen with said tire size from certain tire brands but definitely not all brands.

A prime example is NITTO.
Their tires have always been smaller than the actual size printed on the tire.

I’m just seeing this thread for the first time. I have had 2.5 RC monotube since day 1, zero clearance problems at full flex and run same time as op. Nitto ridge grappler, 285/75/18 no rubbing on skid plate, no rubbing on fender or felt material, all good. Need to see op lift and what he’s calling level or agree it’s a caster issue.

@Rockweiler Are your running aftermarket upper control arms? They typically move the upper ball joint back so you can get more caster. But this can also cause interference not created by the stock uca.

If so, either dial down the caster on the UCA—if a SPC (move the upper ball joint forward) or ask the alignment shop to dial in all the caster possible in the LCA in the back bolt (move the lower ball joint forward and outward). This might give you more clearance for the skid plate. Not from experience on a F150, but all ifs front alignment works similarly. An alignment shop with experience with 4x4s fitting larger tires is also very helpful and will understand what you are trying to do.
