3.5 ECOBOOST VS 5.0L V8

You know what this thread proves? It was pretty damn smart to offer both engines ;). The 5.0 does a lot better than most old fashioned N/A engines on a tune, about 440 horsepower in the F-150 on an E-85 tune and 500 horsepower on the Mustang, so 500 hp is a set of cams and a intake manifold away. I think that’s the way to go if the truck is a DD run-around, but I tow my boat. So I’ll either leave it stock, buy a flex-fuel tune for it, or Whipple it. Totally happy with my 5.0, and would not trade it for the EcoBoost. As long as you like the truck you spent your money on no harm no foul in my book
Totally agree. I wouldn’t take the 5.0, also because I tow my boat, but for sure nice to have a choice

Hello, I've got 2 trucks that are coming in next week, both of them have the high package, along with blue cruise. The first one is the carbonized gray with the 5.0l engine, and the other one is the antimatter 3.5L eco. Have anybody had any problems with either one and what problems are they having? What did you get and why?
I ordered a 2022, so the 5.0L wasn't an option for me, but even before mine was delivered, the Coyote was announce for the upcoming 2023, and I was initially upset, because in a price neutral scenario, I probably would have ordered the 5.0L as it's built by my neighbours and friends, right here in Windsor, ON at the Essex Engine plant. I retrospect, I am thrilled with the performance of the 3.5L EB, and am getting over the pseudo guilt trip that I was on! Either are great choices.

We had the Lariat with 3.5 turbo charge and currently have the Tremor with 5.0. The 5.0 sounds beautiful. The ten speed makes a good difference fior both. No shift lag.

The 3.5 is an amazing engine. Very good driving characteristics (if the tranny cooperates). I came from a highly tuned 6.7 cummins, a 6.4 hemi power wagon and a plethora of jeeps

I had a 5.0 in my 16 with a Magnaflow exhaust and I loved the way it ran and sounded. I had every intention of getting another F150 with a V8 until I drove my bro-in-laws Rattler with the 3.5. The performance won me over!

We make trips up/over the Sierras a few times a year. Sometimes we're as high as 10,000'. I bought the 3.5 EB so I wouldn't have to deal with the power loss at altitude.

My '23 5.0 Tremor is back at the dealer with an A/C malfunction so I was given a loaner, which is a brand new, '23 2wd XLT Sport with the 2.7 EB. Therefore, I have an interesting perspective on the 2 engines, back to back. The 2.7 is actually fairly impressive, in a 2wd truck on small street tires. I would think the heavier Tremor, on 33" tires would blunt it a bit. Very quiet and smooth engine with a nice torque shove at about 2,500 RPM. I don't find the transmission is as smooth as the 5.0 Tremor...seems a lot "jerkier" at low speed, throttle on/off transitions. Other than the lack of V8 sound, the 2.7 EB is very competent so I can imagine the 3.5 being even better. One shocking thing was found on the window sticker in the glove box....2wd XLT Sport MSRP = $55,XXX....a staggering number. I fully expected, based on the level of finish and options that the truck would have stickered mid-$40's and could buy it in the upper $30's.....no way in hades I would buy that truck anywhere close to the sticker price.

That's a crazy price. I have heard really good things about the 2.7 as well.

I lean towards the 3.5L EcoBoost for its better fuel efficiency

I am currently driving XLT 5L
Found an article on this ... U can check out might help u

I would take this link with a grain of salt but then again, it’s your vehicle. 😎
8.75 qts of oil for the 5.0? 🤔

I’ve seen so much conflicting interpretations
Your link shows 3.5 has more torque and less HP (3.5 standard). Most everywhere else showed same hp. Then again others may be wrong??
Do tremors come with HO 3.5’s?

No, tremor's only got the standard 3.5 as optional.
