Another Fox 2.5 PERFORMANCE ELITE SERIES Thread ...

Beefed up for serious off-road use. Not the pretend off-road fx4 package or tremor. Not knocking tremor as I’m a fan just stating facts. Unless you are really into pounding the trails stick with 2.0 kits. I’m only stating this because I’ve done it multiple times, buying the best kits for my truck and then having buyer’s remorse after as ride was shit. Eibach kit is by far best bang for buck and I got it material and labor for far less than any of the icon options. My takeaway from this is it isn’t always better to spend more, buy for your application not the cool factor. Your end result will be better…
I do agree with you based on the 2.0’s. I definitely wouldn’t have gotten the 2.5’s if the custom revalve wasn’t included, I did that with the icons and was not happy at all. My 2.5’s are actually valved lighter than the fox 2.0’s which I kinda like because I feel like sometimes even the 2.0’s are valved a bit stiff and I didn’t want to take a chance that on the softest settings it was still to stiff but that’s definitely not the case. But yes I do agree with you on the 2.5’s being over kill for most of us.

That’s cool they do custom valving based off of your driving.
You have to check spring rates on coil overs too. Softer valves with heavier spring no good either.
Sounds like you got a good set up though.

Are you saying you did a custom re-valve with the Icon’s? Or went with Accutune due to being able to get it re-valved? I’ve used Accutune and Filthy for previous setups and have always been very pleased with the outcomes. Also never kept the vehicle they were on long enough to actually use the re-valve, but knowing I had it available was nice.

Based on OP’s wants/needs a talk with Accutune would be well advised. The level of customer service they offer is some of the best in the business.

I was offered a free revalve when I called icon to ask them what else I could do to help improve my ride. They didn’t recommend softer valving which is what I think I was really looking for as well as some more rebound so after speaking with them I really wasn’t that confident that they would’ve been worth the wait and time to do it. I actually came across a guy that had his icons revalved by them and was not impressed at all with them, he actually said they were worse than before so I’m glad I went elsewhere.

From what I'm hearing... The valving is the same (ultimately just another Fox Shock sold by a subsidiary.

I looked at the Gen 2 Raptor shock, but it was out of my price target.

Honestly my use case is a daily driver with very little hard core off roading and very seldom trailering.

Just want a good ride, possibly go up to 34.5 - 35 inch tires, and level(ish) the stance. Plus the factory shocks are wore out.
Spoke to Fox today about the valving between the two shocks and what you've heard is correct, the two shocks play nicely together.
