Anyone with a Bakflip MX4 bedcover?

Nope, I got rid of mine because of that issue. Also because it was just coming apart after 1.5 years. It was just a bad design. I switched to a Retrax. Yes you lose some bed space but I got the cover with t slots so I can add storage above.

I don’t know where you bought your but Real Truck stands behind their products. I was overly impressed with their customer service. They gave me full credit for my previous cover.

Thanks. I did buy it directly from RealTruck. I had a used Retrax Pro before this, it leaked along the inside of the rails. I have no idea how old it was. It looked great. I think the seals between the slats may have been worn. I was contemplating just going to a hard trifold. They tend to be the most weather resistant.

Every time I buy a new truck I buy a used MX4 cover and they’ve treated me pretty well. Only cover I like more was a roll lock tonneau that came with my Dads Chev that he hated the truck.

I love my MX4.. been pretty happy with it. minimal water during hard rains at the corners of the tailgate.. Better than the paragon.. that one has a nice profile but dumps any standing water on the cover right into the bed if you open it when wet.

I like my MX4 so far. Granted I've only had it since November, but its been solid for me. It keeps the water mostly out. I get some intrusion around the tailgate but that's it.

How has it been at keeping water out?

It's not been in any hard rain yet. I got it on a Black Friday deal. I did spray the seals pretty good last time I washed the truck and got a little in the back of the bed near the tailgate. I've got those rear clamps looser to allow the gate to fall automatically when using the fob or touching the rear release button. To much torque and the tailgate won't open unless you use your hand. Our Florida rainy season coming up, we will see how well it keeps water out.

You can pop any of them open in 3 seconds flat with a piece of wire (hanger). Put a hook on the end slide it under the back edge and pull the release cable, it's actually faster than opening the tailgate, ZERO security. Other than that I like mine, just never left it out of sight for long with anything under it.

Yeah, I’m just trying to keep Metthew and his wandering fingers out of the bed of my truck, not a professional bent on getting in.

almost 4yrs with mine in florida. corners by the tailgate get a bit of moisture with heavy heavy rain or when i pressure wash it. beyond that it stays dry.

I had the BakFlip FiberMax on my 2014 Lariat. It was installed by an accessory shop and they also put in a tailgate seal. It really only leaked in the back corners at the carwash. My Tremor has an MX4, which I installed, no tailgate seal. Only leaks at the back corners in the carwash.

The only time I went someplace where I worried about the security of the contents in the bed was a trip to Las Vegas where I had to leave my truck parked at a motel during the day. I had rifles in hard cases in the bed, so I chained and locked them to the lash points in the bed. Still, no one bothered my truck or the cover. Yes, one could easily defeat the cover with a prybar or large screw driver.

I also installed the BakBox under the cover in the Tremor. It allows me to stow the stuff I like to carry around, such as tow straps, jumper cables, shovel, etc. In my previous truck, I had to keep this stuff in a bin in the bed or under the back seat. While the BakBox is handy, you do have to open the cover all the way to access it. And, while it folds up, it still sits about 8" from the front of the bed taking up space. If you open the cover all the way to haul stuff, the contents of the BakBox are exposed. It's a compromise.

Unless you buy something metal, tonneau covers aren’t burglar proof by any means.
