What's new

Central Florida

New Tremor owner in the Tampa Bay area and would love to get to know where there is a good play to do some off-roading in the general area (nothing too advance). I haven't been yet, but the only place I found online was just east of US98 and south of 50 (near Dade City).

I am also interested in joining some local events.

Welcome! Also in the area. Withlacochee and Croom are the only two I know of for sure. I've only done Withlacoochee in my Frontier Pro4x (before the Tremor) and my wife's Bronco.
We'll have to get a trail day in this fall!

Thank you! Awesome - I plan on checking out Withlacoochee sometime soon with the family. From what I saw online, it seems like most of it is beginner with some areas that can get a little more challenging in mid-size trucks - but please correct me if I am wrong based on your experience.

I look forward to hopefully that trail day coming to fruition!

I think for the most part you're spot on. That said, there were a couple of spots that 2 door Broncos on 35s and 37s were BARELY getting through. We did not attempt it in the Bronco (stock 4 door Black Diamond).

Hahaha - yeah I will make sure not to get too confident nor led pride get the best of me in those types of situations.

If you are in Dade City come down 471S. That will put you right between Richloam and Green Swamp preserve areas. We used to go riding out there all the time a few yrs back with a lot of truck ppl. Unfortunately for us I've been working too much all over the country and we don't get home near as often as we want.

Thank you! I am going to take a look at that area. Any recommended specific points of entry/exit into those areas? I know it has been a few years back, but I am assuming the off-roading isn't too advanced?

Richloam/Greenswamp shouldnt be too bad provided its not height of rainy season and or shortly after a storm. I wanna say there's a couple trails that are still under water but the 471 loop or that east side entrance might be ok.

Could try and make a summer meetup/trip work if everyones in town. Prob rope in some of the SFL folks with the promise of shenanigans. Worst case I'm down for some concrete cowboy action if folks just wanna meet up. I know @CMar is doing some wild ass cross country adventure and I'm headed to AL in May.

@rguest3 I think I saw you were a split timer but smell close to Freedom Factory. You down for some potential summer shenanigans too?

I'm hoping to be done here by end of April-ish and be home mid May for a couple weeks. Then off to Colorado for a 2yr project (been here in TN for 2yrs) hopefully can meet up when we're home at some point. And shenanigans are always encouraged 😇🤣

I am thinking about heading up to Croom this weekend. Will the truck have issues with any of the trails in regard to width? How concerned do I need to be with earning some pinstripes?

*Before I catch flack for asking about pinstripes - I know it is inevitable at some point when off-roading, but I want to be mentally prepared since my truck is ~1 month old.

I think 4 and 5 are full width and the rest are more Jeep width but I haven't been in the Tremor (and cheating with onX)

Thank you! I am going to do some exploring and if I get to an area that doesn't make me comfortable - I will try to capture where it is on GPS/onX and find a different route. Thank you for all the insight! I will let you know how it turns out and hopefully I will be in high spirits haha.

I made it out Croom on Saturday morning and left without newly obtained pinstripes! It was gorgeous and got to see some wildlife.

We only came across one other vehicle the whole time on the trails, so we skipped a couple of the mud holes in fear that if I were to get stuck (I am a beginner - so had to practice some good risk management) who knew how long I would had to wait for someone to come by and help (I had a recovery rope with me).

Thank you all for your insight on these different locations and I look forward to going out again, hopefully with additional 4x4 vehicles so that I can be a little more "risky."

I’ll drive down to Florida if it means we can piss off some Jeepers, maybe we can all buy some little dash-mounted hula dancers and start a new trend just inspite of their rubber ducks
O let them have there little Rubber Ducks !! Gives them something to do.Play with there little rubber ducks, waiting for someone to come pull them out !! We will just pull them out when needed !!

I know this is a long ways out, but anyone interested in getting some trails in on Saturday, November 8th?
