Ceramic coating - worth it?

If you don't mind sharing, what did this cost? I plan to keep mine for 10+years and this seems to be a good way to keep it showroom quality
Total was $2,950 for tint, PPF, and ceramic.

I just had pretty much the same thing done though I went with the 5 year ceramic coating and it was $4k out the door. Interested to know what others are paying.

Mine has a 10 year warranty (FYI)

I got more PPF than you did. Full front end to the front doors including the A-Pillars. I also had the moon roof tinted which was not cheap. Finally, they put all of my decals on for $100. That was money well spent.

👏👏 Money well spent!
I bet that AMB is lookin beautiful in the Arizona sun. We've got a nasty smog inversion in Salt Lake City right now so I'm a little jealous of you.

I can’t even describe how awesome it looks and pictures don’t do it justice. Loving it!

Echoing what several others have said, if the goal is long term, ceramic coating is worth it. That being said, there are lots of "flavors" of ceramic coating from the DIY kits to the high end versions cured with IR light to actually bond with the clearcoat. My previous truck had a higher end coating and even after four years look showroom shiny after a quick wash. Part of this lies in the paint correction work done before application as the ceramic coating seals in any imperfections, swirls, etc. Depending on the level of paint correction you want, show car versus daily driver that can also affect the price. I have my Iconic Silver going in for ceramic coating in two weeks so I'll post some before and after pics. Total cost is about $2k with some PPF for headlights and such.

Just picked mine up from getting Ceramic & PPF. Looks amazing and feels even better! Here's what I had them do:

- 45% ceramic tint applied to front windows
- Paint Correction
- SunTek Ultra PPF applied to Front Bumper, Headlights, Fog Lights, Orange Grille Stripe, Mirrors, and Entire Hood
- 2 Layers of Pro 9H Ceramic applied to all painted surfaces
- 1 Layer of Pro 9H Ceramic applied to glass, plastic, and all 5 wheels

They told me not to wash it or even dust it off for 7-10 days while the ceramic cures. After 7-10 days, I'm supposed to bring it back for its first car wash where they will give me the proper care instructions.

That shine is amazing!

I had my Raptor done and my Tremor is at the shop now getting corrected and ceramic coated.
I think it’s definitely worth it. Paint, glass and wheels, quoted me $1550, picking it up tomorrow.

PPF quotes all ran $2000-$2200 for full front end so I decided to just do ceramic as I don’t drive the truck that much. (4000-5000 miles a year)

The dealer I go through currently does the ceramic coating as part of your purchase package, I think it was around $1400 for my truck, my wife's timberline was $1178, it comes with a 10yr guarantee and so far it seems to work very well.

my local guy quoted me $2900 for a 10 year ceramic with PPE and interior as well.

That is what I paid at another shop on my shelby GT350 (not going to that place because when I took off my rear plate I noticed they ceramiced around the plate without removing it. They made it right but I was pissed!)

So after the $2900 quote he called me back and said they had a cancellation and said if I bring it in this week he would do it for $2200!!! all well and good but my truck isn't here yet!!!

Just picked mine up, looks fantastic! Gtechniq CSL with Exo.

Can you actually tell a difference in a just washed truck and a ceramic coated truck that is clean?
From what I understand the ceramic is a paint protection that makes washing easier.
Does it actually do anything for the color/appearance of the truck beyond a clean truck?

So far I can tell a big difference on how much dust sticks to the ceramic vs the PPF. I’m contemplating getting the PPF coated so I don’t have a half dusty truck…

Is ceramic coating something that needs to be done when the truck is brand new irbid it something that can be done later? This will be my first new vehicle and I am not familiar with it

Typically you’d want to do it as soon as possible as your paint is in awesome condition and it essentially hard costs the top more than factory.

You can do it later as well but in that case you usually need some a 2 step paint correction.

I will say 100% yes. But, you need to find a quality shop to install a quality product. My guy has done mine and the wife’s last 2 cars and he details, buffs, and does any required paint corrections and the result is amazing. Last truck still had water beading and a deep glossy finish after 3 years of New England winters and parking outside. I actually just scheduled the coating on the new, also antimatter blue, truck today. Can’t wait to see the results!

Who is your ceramic guy if you don't mind my asking, I'm in Mass as well.

I use Pro and Local in Enfield CT. Paul has done mine and the wife’s last few vehicles and is an awesome guy to work with and a perfectionist. I’m pretty critical and I have yet to find a spot that he’s missed or had to touch up.
