Disaster/Emergency Response POV

Well it's been a while since I've been able to do much of any updates on the truck, but after 2.5 years of relatively full-time volunteer work, I'm back to paid work (in addition to the volunteer stuff) so can start to afford to rebuild this truck.

I've already hammered the SmartCap back into shape and reinstalled it on the truck (a bit janky and I had to make bracing for its rear panel [to keep it together], but it still largely works fine). I also reinstalled the Decked Drawers- they were banged up pretty good in the accident but still actually worked, so that was some money saved on those two things. I do need to buy the wiring harness for the SmartCap's 3rd brake light and the seal for the bottom edge (using the old seal which is somewhat held in place-ish, in some places with butyl tape... not the best solution...), and I really should replace the back panel, but I don't like the newer version so I kinda want to keep what I have currently.

Last week I installed wiring for the front and rear emergency lights and the truck cap-mounted scene lights and side emergency lights. I'll need to mount them and the front-facing offroad lights at some point here soon.

Hopefully over the next few weeks, I'll be reinstalling the front Halo/Elka 2.5 IFP coilovers, installing new (arriving today, hopefully!) Halo/Elka 2.5, reservoir, adjustable rear shocks and the tapered Raptor blocks. The Mickey Thompson tires that had worn unevenly are at the shop being replaced so once all that's back I'll be ready to reinstall them all and get everything aligned, then I'll be a much cooler person because I'll have another inch or two of lift. Yes, I'm probably compensating for something; judge me all you want. At least this time I'll likely be able to do the install on an indoor, level concrete pad instead of my driveway or the collision center parking lot, both with some slope to them...

Can't wait to have my full truck back up and running!

After all that gets done I want to figure out some better storage solutions for the bed. Right now I have a lot of stuff to carry in there because I'm on call for responses and don't have time to go home. I have totes and Pelican Cases and medical bags, gas cans, and a chainsaw largely tied down (well, ratchet straps) but, I often have to untie one thing to get to another, which is a pain.

It may just be that I have to put up with different cases for different roles, but I like to have these cases secured and contents protected from the environment. I can't fit everything in the Decked drawers, and some of this stuff needs to stay in the backpacks or response packs, so I don't think the Pack-out type concept will be big enough to work. I considered getting a cargo slide/drawer to mount atop the Decked, and depending on how much room it takes up vertically, that may be a good option, but I can barely sit up in the back of that bed anyway with the Decked in there.

That's kind of the next thought project that needs to happen.
