Literally the first mod I did was disabling ASS via forscan. And then I moved out of WA. My quality of life improved drastically with both adjustments!!!

One question, does this feature add to the wear and tear of the starter or any other part. If so, I don't want it.

It is said that that it does not cause “wear” per se. However the starters are considered heavy duty and have a life span of 300k starts or something like that, which is longer than typical starters. The ASS comes from hybrid vehicle technology and again “is said” that engineering considered lots of difficulties of start/stop of the engine into the system. There is a lot going on when the ASS is in use. For example the 10R80 transmission has a pump in it to keep the fluid pressure up while the engine it’s off. If I remember correctly, the fuel, oil, coolant, and brakes have the similar consideration applied to the operations. Then there is the AC, battery, and other systems they had to upgrade to work differently. The system even knows where the crankshaft is positioned and which cylinder to fire next upon restart. It’s all controlled by the system but it definitely just complicates the vehicle a whole lot which is probably the biggest downside. All that just for a minuscule savings in emissions and fuel economy.

I don’t think ASS is flawless and perfect by any means but I think it’s not as bad as all the shade tree mechanics on the internet say it is. Like they say, there is 3 sides of the story. The public, the engineers, and the truth…

I turned off the Start/Stop feature via Forscan on my Broncos. (22-23) Cannot do on the 2024s. I assume the same with the 2024+ 150s?

My 2024 F350 Gas truck does not have the Start/Stop.

I'm unable to on my 2025, it's annoying
