Flowmaster Outlaw - Watch out Brother

I have the Borla S-Type with a 5.0 and the cylinder deactivation is definitely annoying. I drive in sport mode all of the time so it’s not an issue.
I love driving in sport mode, but for whatever reason I can't bring myself to do it all the time because I feel like it will ultimately be harder on the engine, even though I know in reality it won't or is at best, negligible.
Cylinder deactivation is such an annoying pointless feature only put there to appease California, EPA, CAFE standards...etc

Got the FX and I didn’t go with the outlaw because I wanted something subtle. I don’t notice drone. I had problems installing mine and the left tip is shorter the the right tip now
That's what she said !!

So I installed the Flowmaster Outlaw Cat Back system on my 25' Tremor 5.0. For those interested in doing this and wondering if there is drone (Usually the first question). YES....yes yes. There are mega amounts of drone. So much so that it gives me headaches from the reverberation in my head. I knew there would be drone but it is so hard to tell just how loud a system will be from watching videos, and most don't do an interior sound. I don't think even placing a resonator in this system will knock it down to an acceptable level.

So I will be stepping down to a Flow FX.....Maybe I'm just getting old because I know the 25 year old me would love the Outlaw, but the 52 year old me isn't digging it.

I would go with a Borla S Type but they dont seem to make a catback for the Tremor, and the Corsa Sport just doesn't sound that great to me. I think the FlowFX should be a good spot for me. Aggressive but not too much crazier than stock, and interior drone should be at a minimum compared to the Outlaw.

Anyway if you are on the fence about the Outlaw, consider your tolerance for bell ringing drone. I will say that it makes the 5.0 sound amazing but to me it can be a bit much.
I just had the MBRP installed for my 2025 5.0. Not over the top and a deep rumble when you step on it. Really happy with it

I know I'm posting in the V8 post...... I'm looking for a place on our forum "buy or sell" area. I upgraded to a 2022 Raptor Exhaust system, all ford parts. The actuators were not working when I bought the exhaust therefore I modified them to be full open "baja". The truck sounds amazing, great growl but I am 50 and its a bit rowdy for me in full open. This is a really nice setup, I can post videos of teh sound if anyone wants. Although I really like it, I need a more civilized truck for my jobsite meetings and driving customers around..... and I tow a lot with my kids. I'm wondering if anyone on this Forum is interested in buying this system. It bolts on directly to our trucks, I did not cut the down pipes, I used the stock 2 to Y to 1 downpipes which bolt on perfectly.

Might be a difficult sell on this forum.
Good luck to you.

AWE and Corsa sound the best on these trucks. If yall need a system we currently have them discounted for the 4th of July 🇺🇸.

Also AWE has beautiful 5” tips! Something to think about!

I'm having the Outlaw put in tomorrow morning. Im 65 and have always loved a loud exhaust, so I opted for it. I am planning to leave the stock resonator on for now, until I see how it sounds at warm idle..

Edited to include a quick vid of warm startup.

Let's us know how you like it. I thought it sounded fine on the outside but the constant back and forth of the cylinder deactivation was a bridge to far for me. I'm back to fully stock exhaust now and I can still tell when it goes in cylinder deactivation because I'm just geared to hear it now, although it doesn't even compare to how bad it was with the Outlaw and the FlowFX.

Just had it on for a few hours now, so not a big sample size but did do some highway driving. I heard the deactivation but it didnt bother me. (Of course I just came out of a Ram with the hemi that I put an MBRP exhaust on and it also had deactivation, so Im used to that sound.) The in cab exhaust sound is noticeable but not so loud I needed to adjust the radio volume and for me, having grown up with big blocks and glasspacks, the rumble is music to my ears.

Corsa is the way... Sport version if you're too concerned about extreme sound. Extreme if you're not, like me. There is NO DRONE. Corsa Extreme is amazing and loud only when you want it to be. But that 'loud' is incredible, really does the Coyote 5.0 justice IMO

I am 67. In same boat as you
I want more free flow but without the loud. I will track this to see your results.
