What's new

Folding mirrors.

I wonder if the reason why the dealer won’t just go ahead and install the correct switch panel is because the wiring isn’t there and perhaps it involves some type of module programming.
Shouldn’t be modifications necessary. Regardless the programming is trivial. If this was truly escalated to Ford that’s what they’d have them do especially since this seems like a quality control issue. Which to the dealer means it doesn’t pay out anything and they don’t care enough. Not saying the dealer is sandbagging here but I’ve seen it way too often myself due to that.

I've taken the door panel off, personally, I can add some input. Could be yes, could be no. Could be yes because mine came without the pigtail for the wired keypad in the door harness. Could be no because I disconnected that switch panel and I believe it's just one, maybe two plugs, from what I recall. I believe it's a standard connection. Same pins/wires/pinouts.

I am thinking what they do is have those wires there for the door switch panel, they're all the same. Then the truck either comes with the folding mirrors and folding mirror switch. Or it doesn't and the plug is still the same. Then as you mentioned, probably module programming.

Either way, OP got hosed. Having power folding mirrors makes no sense without the switch, even if you can set the autofold to on. I'm thinking the truck is already programmed for it because he can use the autofold feature. Some doofus on the line grabbed the wrong panel.

OP, worse comes to worst, look up my posts on here about the SecuriCode keypad. I shared videos on how to take the panel off. If you can get them to cover the proper switch panel, a DIY install is easy. I've taken that switch panel out and unplugged it before. It's worth the 15 min to see if the proper switch panel is plug and play.

Yea they were so short handed the day I was there, I’m not convinced they even contacted Ford. Also this is my first time dealing with the service department at this dealer. My 2020 I traded never had any reason to go to the service dept.

Thanks, I’ll take a look. I don’t mind doing the job myself, however I shouldn’t have to.

100% agreed. I would absolutely try another dealer first. Is this dealer that's giving you a hard time the one you purchased the truck from?
