Ford beats Toyota, Ram, GM

Seems Ford has turned quality around according to JD Power. I know I know, JDP and most of these organizations are as trustworthy as politicians but Ford must have donated well to someone, or others really slacked up in their generosity. It’s only “Initial Quality” but we will see how long this favorable rating goes. Some articles said Ford has been working on turning this around for a few years now but are quick to mention recalls

As much as I like Ford, I am suspicious of anything JD Power. Their truck rankings always seem to be for whatever truck is the newest, regardless of how good it is. They were forced to back track on the 2007 Toyota Tundra at the time for its shuddering issues, differential problems, cam lobe sheering in the engines, and all kinds of problems. The stupid things didn't even have usable recovery hooks. We tend to think of that truck as reliable now, but when it first came out it was a total POS.

I could go on and on but as a publication, they are about as reliable and unbiased as IGN.

Yep I hear ya. Motor Trend and most the other publications. As I see it, it’s not that things have gotten bad, as much as journalism has gotten dishonest and biased. It used to be no one trusted lawyers or salesmen. Journalists have taken the lead now.

The fact that Nissan is #5 is questionable. Don't they have serious and well known transmission issues?

The Titan and Titan XD were a giant shitshow in general. The Frontier is usually solid. Primarily because they never change it. So they are generally reliable after 5+ years of production. That said, I can't speak to the current ones.

I do think Ford has the best overall truck right now, I just don't think JD Power (or its ilk) is a reputable publication.
