Ford to patent technology reporting speeding?!

I worked in IT for years. A client upgraded their laptop and offered me the old one. Something about taking a laptop to the range, turning it on and using it for target practice... It's therapeutic haha
Been writing software for 35 years and that would be so satisfying.

Where I live I get Tannerite for about $5/lb legally. It's pretty fun "practicing my long distance shooting" by giving a quick and painless death to a useless piece of crap
Use that too!

It took a few rounds of 308 lol

You've underlined an important detail about a big company like Ford; They like to make money. They sell cars, they fix cars etc. How else can you make money per-customer?

You can make money on user-data, specifically, geographic information. Where you go, what you do, etc etc. Did you know 78% of Google's revenue is from selling marketing data on their users? Same with Facebook. It's all the same, Ford is no different. There's nothing you can do about it, just important to understand the day and age you live in.
Ummm, I think your second paragraph is taken care of via ones cell phone which can collect considerably more data from an individual than any vehicle from any manufacturer.

Yes, I’m fully aware of Googles main revenue stream so all of us are being tracked before we even pick up the keys or key fob to get into our Ford vehicle of choice because we always have our phones or some other type of wearable device that’s connected to the cloud in one way or another.

I’ve known for many years that there’s nothing we can do about it so I just roll with it and don’t worry / stress over it because that’s the world we now live in.

Now with that out of the way, I’m not on Facebook, never have been and never will be. 🤣

You don’t have to explain it to me, I’ve worked some jobs I wish I didn’t because of things I know now about how the digital world works.

Yeah, stay off Facebook LOL. So much brain damage on that side of the internet.

I just read an article last week that Washington intends to pass a law which makes it possible to use speed sign sensors and GPS data to actual limit vehicles to the posted speed limit. They were discussing in the context of people who have DUI or other felony vehicle related charges having to have the technology activated to keep their drivers license much like drunk drivers must have a breathalyzer installed.

If it works I can see other states following suit and then just making it mandatory on all new vehicles. Police state is real and getting worse every day. Older used vehicles are going to become real popular if they try this.

The answer is always:

Doing something at the expense of the majority, to favor the few

I will only be purchasing and building classics from here on out. Less tech and oversight while ensuring mitigation of depreciation.

Capitalists (Don't get me wrong I love capitalism) always find a way to vertically integrate you into a system, or lock you out of old luxuries in-favor of new ones.

For instance, your classic Ford 460 big block F250 might be really cool and super reliable, cheap etc, but as time goes on gas price goes up, EPA restrictions crack down (they will get worse, CA for instance taxes large vehicles very heavily), parts will become un-attainable; things like this encourage you to adopt their ways.

Apple intentionally slowing down their older phones to create the illusion of "This technology is old and incapable - I need an upgrade" is another example.

The trick is to time-travel back to 1995 and have bought 2x 351w F150s and kept one for parts, the other to drive :ROFLMAO:

I have a 1990 talon tsi sitting in my driveway my wife's been trying to get me to sell for years, now I have the reason why we NEED to keep it forever, lol. I miss the days of just changing your tune on the fly based on the butt dyno, and being able to just go to the junkyard for upgraded brakes and intake manifolds.

OBD2 really killed the fun when they started keeping all our driving data stored, just let me wipe the memory and turn off that annoying check engine light that i know is because i got rid of the recirculation valve. They tried to say its better for us and easier to tune in the beginning, now its just a way for them to charge us to unlock each vin individually and make us put the cats back on for an inspection.

Ahh, the good old Talon/Eclipse turbo.

Had several, my favorite car to drive to this day. The one I have now hasn't been on the road since 2016 but it will never go anywhere. The wife knows that's not the ultimatum to give so it just sits.

the way things are going, they will all be doing it soon. Did you know that FEDEX trucks have tag readers on them and send them in?
