Icon Levelling kit questions

the kings are excellent on road. I will say they took a few months to break in the springs but they are like a Cadillac now on road adjusted to full soft. Off road they are even better, the harder you exercise them the smoother they run.

I don’t run an aftermarket uca. They make tons of fucking noise and need a lot of lubing love and I have no time for that. Been there done that. They do add bling factor and that’s about it. You will also need to run a wheel spacer or 0/negative offset rim with UCAs in most situations or they will rub a wide tire. Have to measure backspacing.

No way in hell are you going to damage the hose or reservoir they are way out of the way.

I agree with you, I’m running the oem upper arms with my fox 3.0’s up front. No noise they don’t hit the spring at full droop and alignment wasn’t an issue.

Confusion abounds… the install shops say one thing. The manufacturers say another thing. And consumers say yet another thing.

$3-5k is an expensive experiment.

I just want the best option to give me 1.5-2” max front end lift, favorable road manners that aren’t harsh, and mountain off road capability.
I feel like this the same thing with every single kit.

Everyone saying something different. Very confusing

I was recently looking into the Icon CDEV adjustable electronics kit, as I've had several vehicles with in-car electronic adjustability, most recently a 21 Raptor with SDI E-Clik setup. A couple things made change my mind.

For one, like it's been mentioned, nobody seems to have their stories straight as to what specifics will work or not. I would believe actual users on this forum over a shop or the manufacturer. Shops and manufacturers have multiple employees that generally only know broad product lines and information on multiple vehicle applications.

The other issues I saw with Icon were their spotty history with quality control and inaccurate compatibility/fitment issues. I also never got a response from my website contact form inquiry and I could not get a hold of anyone on the phone and they have not returned my phone messages. It's been over 2 weeks on those. Seems they might have more experience/interest with Toyota and less on the F-150.

So I reached out to AccuTune Offroad since they seem well versed in the F-150 and I've never read a single bad thing about them. I'm OK with not having electronic adjustability of damping, but do want some adjustability. So I'm currently going with this setup with custom valving as a baseline (yes they fit 21+ trucks, according to AccuTune). I was going to go with the Fox Performance Elite but AccuTune stated they don't fit the Tremor well, and they recommend swapping the springs. These ones are plug and play:

Granted, these coilovers will likely not get me much lift, if any, in the front. But I don't care about lifting and want to keep the stock wheels and tires for a bit, as I did with my 22 Tremor. My 25 just got a Whipple supercharger installed (love the Coyote) and I'm mostly street oriented. I'll be swapping the rear block with a shorter one and possibly fully removing it like my 22.

If people get more feedback and experience with the Icon kits, I might change to the CDEV kit down the road. But for now I think the Fox kit will be awesome for my needs.

There are a few guys on here running the fox elites and I’m pretty sure they raised their trucks 1”-1.5”. I ran them on my 24” non tremor f150 they raised it 2.5” and this was with them adjusted as low as they would go. I now run fox 3.0’s.

Yeah, I'm not fully understanding why AccuTune stated the Elites need different springs. Fox tech support said they would work just fine. But since I'm going with AccuTune and their custom valving, I'm going to listen to them. For now 😎

Mine were also tuned by accutune only because they made me believe that they would perform just as good as the internal bypass fox 3.0’s for a lot less money but that certainly wasn’t the case. I’m curious what spring rate they’re going to set you up with as my elite’s came with a 550 spring that just was a bit to stiff for my liking.

From the link I posted and I purchased, the spring rate is 550 lbs. They said they will not be touching the spring on this set. If I went with the Performance Elites then they would require a spring change.

Crossing my fingers this works well!

OK, I thought about this a lot over the weekend and decided to have AccuTune change the order to the Performance Elites with their recommended coil spring swap. They are going to use Eibach 1500.300.0550S springs. Not 100% sure on the original spring P/N on the Performance Elites, but they said they will be too tall and too stiff unless they're installed on a PowerBoost. They said Fox knows about it but they haven't received enough complaints to change anything yet. Pretty wild if that's all true.

Either way, I trust AccuTune and wanted to go with the new seal technology and aluminum body of the PE's. Hopefully get them installed in the next week or two.

Sorry to hijack the Icon thread but I might still go back to Icon's CDEV kit if they get good enough reviews in the next few years. Love the electronic adjustability. Fox's new aftermarket Live Valve kits were on my list but I can't justify $10k+ on suspension.

The Fox spring used on the elites is also a 550.

Do you know if the springs that came with yours were the original from the Fox kit? What is the part number of the springs?

If you got them from AccuTune, they said they had 2 F-150 customer complaints with the out of the box kits. They then discovered that the spring length and diameter were not a common spring and caused issues on non-Powerboost models.

So I don't think it's the spring rate that's the problem, but rather the other specs that make for a poor combo and maybe why yours didn't feel great.

Curious what modifications AccuTune can do when rebuilding Icon shocks/coil overs. Something in my pocket when it is time.

It’s the original spring made by Fox, has you can see I had them adjusted as low as they would go and I still had 2.5” of lift. They use a 3.25” wide spring and eibach only makes a 3” so that was a problem.

Yup, this lines up with what John at AccuTune told me. He said that the Fox kit uses a proprietary spring that is basically too large in diameter and length. You might be one of the customers they were referring to where there were problems with the way it rides. So they're changing out the springs for Eibachs and the necessary hardware to hold the spring.

I originally asked AccuTune if they could custom valve the Icon kits and they said they don't touch the internals on Icons at this time. Sounds like they don't want to deal with them or they've had bad feedback in the past.
