Leaking Rear Differential pinion seal

Dealers will give you a loner out of the kindness in their hearts, they are not contractually obligated to do so. Ford on the other hand, assuming you have an ESP and/or sweet talk a Ford service rep, will get you in a rental car, and will give you like a week. I don’t remember what my policy has on it.

As far as the GM bad luck, all auto manufacturers make bad choices, Ford is still right with me and I will continue to buy their trucks. I’ve never owned a GM, so I have nothing to say about them as a company.

Ford is most certainly not reading these, it would be nice if they were. The 14th gen F150 forum and the mainline F150 forum is full of ford service reps that creep around looking to help people. So maybe we’ll see more of that in the future.
Thanks for the info! Much appreciated. With GM the lack of customer service finally did me in! I ended up hiring a lemon law attorney in Michigan to sue them and I definitely did NOT end up ahead of the deal once it was all said and done.

lemon law attorneys are not your friend, if you can willfully get Ford to buy it back without suing them that’s your best bet.

My experience should be a good example of what Ford is capable of. They took care of me, I’ve been in a Ford family since I was a kid and they all make it to 150K+ miles with some love. My Expedition got to 468K.

I don’t expect ford to buy it back from me this early in the game. I do expect them trying to reach out to me perhaps on my frustrations though, and explaining how are they trying to improve this leaking pinion seal situation?

If I were you I wouldn’t loose any sleep over it. I know it’s frustrating, imagine how I felt.

Ford will make it right, your dealer has an easy job on their hands.

As long as it’s under warranty you have no culpability. If it escalates call ford and start a case with them.

You've got a great truck to enjoy so don't let that pinion seal get in the way of it. It's a small thing that's easily fixed.

Might be worth checking the fluid level in the diff. It's easy to over fill and that can lead to seepage as well.

Thank you, I did ask the dealership about the fluid level while it was in shop.

First “problem” found today with my new 2024 tremor at 1,700 miles. Was putting wheel well liners on and notice rear pinion seal leak while peeking underneath truck. Is this common on ford rear ends? This is my first ford vehicle. Other than this I have been impressed so far with this rig.
I have owned more than 8 Fords 4x4 models and never had a rear end seal leak. Try taking some parts cleaner spray it off and check it in a few days to see if it is leaking still. Just a thought. I better go check mine. LOL

Thank you, but the seal has already been replaced by dealership.

My son’s 2020 FX4 was wet looking like it was leaking. We cleaned it off and it never leaked again. 48000 on it now. Checked Fluid , it was good.

🙃 31K on the OD.

Time for a repair.
Texted the senior master tech, ordered the part day of.

Brought it in the next morning and he had it done in 2 hours.

God I love my dealer.
