Well shit. These besides are really quite easy to tear. I was shocked at how such a small bump could have torn the metal of the bed so easily. Maybe it’s time for a high clearance rear bumper situation.

Aluminum is lighter than steel and more heat resistant but It lacks tensile strength and when it fails, it doesn't stretch or distort much before total failure. It tears, it cracks, and that's it. I mean, non-touchless car washes have been known to pull the antenna straight down through the fender destroying it.

Yeah I’ve worked with both quite a bit. Ohh well these things happen (to me lol). Wondering if it’ll end up getting a bedside or a full bed replacement. It’ll also need bumper and probably the rearmost section of exhaust. This thing might be sweet to try and make fit:

I don't want the bulky tire carrier though, and I definitely need a full strength hitch.
