Miles to Empty seems way off

Anyone know which incline to stay away from. Truck pointing up or down a hill. Do you know?
I thought the gentleman stranded was pointing downhill at the time.

Nose down is the problem from everything I have read on the issue. The gentleman on this forum was facing downhill as well.
