Potential F150 Tremor buyer - Questions

Loving my 2025 Tremor 402A, rides well so far and no rattles or anything. I also really like the interior so far. I’m coming from a 2010 Lariat so everything feels newer and all that. Really surprised to hear how much everyone talks about headlights. I’ve been liking mine but obviously coming from the 2010 halogens that had also weathered over time it’s a big upgrade. Not saying the projectors aren’t better or anything just surprised that’s such a big priority for folks!

The reason why said headlights get so much attention is because one, they’re so much better than the reflective LED headlights and two / most importantly is that they used to be standard equipment in the 402A package which ended with the 2023 TREMOR.

Starting with the 2024 TREMOR, Ford removed some features that used to be standard and at the same time, the price of the vehicle increased.

Hi Brumey. I recently purchased my Tremor with the 5.0 back in May of this year. So far, so good. Currently have 8,3xx miles. Drove the truck stock till about 1000 miles ago. Drove fine, but was definitely floaty and ton of body roll around corners, but given you have country roads, should be perfectly fine for your needs. Recently did HaloLift coilovers to level the truck and 35x12.5's.

Answering your questions below in my opinion.
  1. What is your truck like on regular roads for road holding, compliance and comfort over road bumps and pot holes. I should asl if its noticeable better that the XLT or Lariat with the 20" wheels.
    1. for the first 7,3xx miles stock, drove fine for my needs. Was a floaty ride for sure, but sounds like you'd be fine with that.
  2. Does the trucks off-road focus, suspension and tires have any negatives when primarily used on roads and highways?
    1. I have a family member with a '21 F150 platinum with the powerboost and I wouldn't say it drives too much different compared to my '25 5.0 Tremor
  3. Any known reliability issues with the 2025 Tremor that I should look out for or expect?
  4. Build quality and noise in cabin?
    1. build quality is subjective imo. I feel as if no matter brand, ALL manufacturers no longer care about quality. Comes down to what problems you are fine with dealing with or potentially dealing with.
  5. MPG - I am expecting 15MPG in town and rural 50mph driving and 20MPG on the highway. I generally try to drive the speed limit or 5 above. I drive conservatively and not like I am in a 911 :)
    1. I drove a mixture of 90% highway and 10% local roads. Before 35's and level, I got around 17-18mpg.
  6. Safety features, are they modern or have they been out a while and due for replacement in a new years model?
    1. can't comment
  7. Is the Tremor available with the 36 gallon fuel tank?
    1. I could be wrong, but I think they all are 36 gallons?
  8. Is the 2025 generation near end of life and should we expect a new model in 2026/2027
    1. can't comment.

Thank you... Great reply and ideas.

My other option is to just keep my F350. It's a known entity just bigger than we need and 14MPG.

I will test drive as soon as possible.

Also plan on reading the forums posts on here. I know it's horrific to read all the issue but that is how it is. My new 4Runner has the same on the forums but mine has been flawless so far.
Glad you liked the ride!

I'd second what CMAR said. These trucks are decently quiet on the road, even with more "off-road" tires that I use. They ride well on- and off-road, though on mine I replaced the suspension with Halo Lifts/Elka IFP 2.5 coilover front and rear (all of this is detailed on my build page), though Bilstein and other brands work very well as well, possibly better. And just FYI from Halo Lifts, the basic 2.5s aren't made/acceptable any more for the rear (you can get 2.0, 2.5 with reservoir and 2.5 with reservoir and dampeners). The new suspension did seem to improve the attachment to rougher roads/off-road, but I haven't taken if off-road a lot yet.

I'm also on the V8 bandwagon, for its reliability, though I know the V6 owners are generally very happy with the V6, I know it has more torque, possibly better towing and all that but I don't want to mess with the turbos... when I have enough money for turbos, I'll supercharge the V8. The V8s aren't immune to problems, but they just seem more reliable from what I've seen. I'm currently looking for a used 2023 Tremor and I don't see a lot of V8s for sale- just the V6's and that tells me something.

It's a really good truck- no squeaks on mine that I didn't cause (split loom rubbing against the window...). Safety features seem good. Well-rated in its class. I also drive fairly conservatively, but have noticed on mine that my MPGs are usually somewhat lower, even with the stock tires back on, more around 14 MPG. I have been up to 21 MPG while overloaded in the mountain expressways of West Virginia, and somehow got better MPG while towing a trailer than without, but anyway...

I don't think you can go wrong with a Tremor. While there are changes to the 2024+ models that some people don't like, it's still a good truck. I miss mine and can't wait to get another one.

I've owned 4 Raptors, two of them EB's, two the OG V8's. While the performance of the 3.5 is impressive (the sound is NOT), both EB's had cam phaser problems before the warranty ran out despite my best efforts with timely maint. After the second one's 7-week repair drama, I purchased a Raptor R for the V8. Got too good a deal on flipping it and bought the V8 Tremor as a placeholder until another R came in. After driving the V8 Tremor for a bit I saw not reason for the extra $60K for the R, especially in MT. The V8 sounds incredible and has done everything I could ask of it in the 4-wheelin heaven that I now live in...
It's an amazing truck and I'm not going to be driving 60mph across the desert any time soon (Raptor's are made for that albeit I broke a couple of axles doing it in FL as ruts appear out of nowhere after the heavy rains down there. Chasing hogs across fields does not come without consequences).

The V8. It's what a truck should sound like and if you want more performance out of it, you know what to do!

Thanks for all the great comments. I have contacted a dealer about 2 hours drive away. They have a new basic, F150 Tremor, V8, 401a package, Oxford white (I really did not want basic white), the only extras include the Mobile Office package and Two Haul. Hoping to get them to agree to $58k or very close. Besides compromising on color, would this be a good deal?

Of course, I would like to get one with the 402A package but that seems to be stretching my finances too much unless I could get them down to $64k.

Would welcome comments on great deals people got recently on the V8 F150.

Good luck with your purchase and yes, it’s going to be practically impossible to get a “new 402A TREMOR” for $64K. Thats more like the price for a used one.

Someone mentioned this above, but I'll reinforce it. I never EVER buy extended warranties . . . I did when I bought this truck. All those electronic features, screens, etc . . . sheesh, too many things to go wrong. Plus, I bought mine used ('22) with 60K on it.

Two months ago, my suspension started squeaking like crazy. Traced it to my front passenger side area, but couldn't figure out exactly where the problem was - turned out to be in a lot of places . . . $1600 later it, problem solved. I paid $300 - every bit of it was covered under the ESP, no questions asked, no pushback. That's about 1/3rd of what I paid for it - and I have 7 more years of coverage.

All this tech is nice . . . until it's not.
