Problem with my dealership honoring X-Plan pricing

I went to the dealership and made a down payment on a custom 2022 F-150 Tremor on 2/9/22 and at that time I confirmed they accepted x-plan pricing and gave them my PIN. I received the order confirmation email from Ford on 2/10/22.

Fast forward to today, and I got a call from the dealership saying the truck was in, and I could pick it up this week. However, both the sales rep and the sales manager told me they would not give me x-plan pricing based on the MSRP from February. I could either take the MSRP from February with no x-plan, or I could have x-plan pricing based on today's MSRP, which is obviously a lot higher now.

They both claimed there is a 90 day limit to the X-plan price protection, and then gave me some excuse that they need an invoice to generate the x-plan price which they don't have until the VIN is generated which was a few weeks ago? It wasn't clear what they meant, but if that was the case, how could anyone ever lock in a price and use x-plan over the last couple of years when every custom order takes more than 3 months to deliver?

I called Ford's vehicle purchase plans department at 1-800-348-7709 and they confirmed there is NO 90 day limit on X-plan pricing from the order date.

I also have the Ford 2022 Plans Program Rules pdf (which I attached) and it also does NOT mention a 90 day limit. The only requirement is that I have had my PIN at least 90 days before the purchase date, which I have. I've had a PIN since 2/7/22 and the purchase and delivery will take place by tomorrow 8/30/22 at the earliest.

I setup my PIN through being a member of the Mustang Club of America, and I contacted them too, and again they said there's no mention of a 90 day limit.

I've made the sales person aware of all of this, and I'm still waiting for their latest response, but I'm not sure what else I can do if they don't follow the rules. I don't want to assume they are being dishonest, maybe they're just misinformed, but I do want to get the truck this week and I expect to pay the X-plan price based on the February MSRP. That's reasonable isn't it?

The sales manager has already suggested he would be happy to refund my deposit and keep the truck. Well no shit they would be happy to do that, they can mark it up $10k over today's MSRP and sell it to somebody else. But I ordered it and I want to take it home.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with X-plan pricing at their dealership? Or heard of this arbitrary 90 day limit?
This is complete BS....I ordered on X PLAN in December of 2021, truck arrived April of 2022. Many price increases, but I was price protected at the price I signed for. The dealership screwed you over.

I hope this is the case, I took screen shots of the built x plan price the day I placed the order plus I have the dora and build price sheet printed out from the dealer.
Man, I thought we were past that crap

I know in the Midwest it is difficult to find honest dealers. I had to go about 250 miles for my F150, they actually delivered my Tremor to me and honored the price that we agreed on. For my wife's ST only had to go about 50 miles away to get the deal( ordered and delivered ) they actually found extra rebate money for me on the Explorer. Soo many dealers are such crooks, not just Ford

I had another call with the sales manager and it cleared things up. I guess it comes down to the fact that x-plan doesn't protect you against price increases that occur before the vehicle is built. So I'm in sort of a rare case where there's been 2 or 3 price increases in between order and delivery because of inflation and other shortages and delays. So that's why it's one or the other. It just sucks that it'll end up costing me around $3k more than I was expecting.
 👎

You ordered and got quoted a price, x-plan doesn't expire. We can put a hit out for those people.:ninja: I would keep calling Ford Corporate or not buy the truck. in my case I waited for 8 months, then they low balled my trade so I went and found a different truck, but where I ordered did text me my truck was in, I never replied and they still have my $500 deposit I put down. they never replied to any message over the 8 months I sent them . And I tried to buy another truck from them in the mean time.. I Purchased my current Tremor from Pinnacle Ford. A-Plan, good trade in, Life time power train warranty..

Hi all,

I had jumped the gun when I ordered Tremor back in August 2022 since I didn't know X plan pricing could be used. Does the discount vary quite a bit from different dealers? May you guys share how much discount you received from X plan?

The price is the same with x plan no matter the dealer, it is set by Ford. I saved around $5k off MSRP with the plan. Have you cked with the dealer to see if they will honor it for you?

Regrettably, I let my MCA membership expire two years back. I came across a dealership post (Granger Ford) that offers 3%off invoice price for custom orders, so I will check them out first to see bottom line. But reordering again with X plan thru a local dealer may seem to offset transportation cost from Granger Ford since they're located in IA and I am in Socal. Every bit of savings helps.

This is correct. Dealers opt in or out, but I don't believe it is modifiable given Ford's authority over the 'plan'. I luckily found my Tremor on a dealer lot (had just come in) and used the X plan to save $5500 off MSRP. For reference, the Z plan would've cut $7500 off MSRP. Unfortunately, couldn't reach my family member to acquire the Z plan PIN, but I wanted the truck and couldn't risk waiting.

Sucks the dealer is being a twat about this.

When I got mine in October, I had to travel 200 miles to a dealer that had 2 Tremors on the lot AND accepted X-plan. I was only able to apply it to one of them, since it had been on the lot more than 30 days (their rule), the other one was only on the lot for 2 weeks and was currently marked up 3k over sticker.

Mine was a different situation since I did not order it, but I ended up saving about $5k which I figured was about 6.1% below the MSRP on the sticker.

EDIT: OMG, it was 200 miles not 3200, LOL, 3200 would be insane.

It might be wishful thinking that a SoCal dealer would accept X plan pricing. Anybody from the SoCal region order thru their dealer and receive the plan discount?

That is unfortunate. That $75 membership has saved me $11k off MSRP between my Tremor and my wife's 22 Aviator. A nice return if I say so my self.

3% under invoice from Granger is waaaaaay better than x-plan (it is .5% under invoice and caps doc fees at $100)

And from what I have seen, right now dealers who are accepting x-plan are only doing so on custom orders and not on lot vehicles, so the best deal is a dealer doing x% under invoice on a custom order. To get the best price you have to be willing to wait.

That may be, my time is more valuable to me than dealing with travel to pick up the truck and the drive home. To each their own.
