Rock Slider Options

Will either of these annihilate legs of people that don't use the actual steps? If not, no sale, that's my favorite feature.

The RCI look great, I wonder what the weight diff is compared to OEM
I had a pair on my 4-runner and they are heavy! Id probably say they are 2.5-3x the weight of OEM.

What @Badmothertrucker said is pretty spot on the factory steps weigh approximately 40lbs and a set of rock sliders will weigh around 100-120lbs.

Anyone have these on a Tremor, I would love to see a photo. Went on a trail ride this weekend in Vermont and realized sliders are a must for my 22 Tremor.

It all depends on use case. Don't expect to pivot or land on them. but minor stuff would be ok, until it's not.
For the three options I've seen, from toughest to weakest:
White Knuckle - These will take whatever you can dish out, and more
RCI - A little concerned about a forward roll drop from the front wheels
Rocky Road - sand, mud, dirt, loose gravel
everyone else - you can usually step on these to get in your truck.

We are working on an aluminum Step/rock slider setup for the bronco currently, and my F-150 is going to be next on the list. I attached a few forklift photos, and a few photos of where I got the bronco stuck as chuck against a bolder. Took two winches to pivot me around the bolder all pushing against the driver side rock slider. The driver’s side was the weaker one (first proof of concept) and held up really well. We destroyed that boulder against the rock slider.

While aluminum steps/rock sliders are not going to be targeted for hard core rock crawling, we are going to test them in hard core rock crawling conditions. This is going to be more targeted towards the overlanding/light off roading market who want to know if they do get into a bad spot, they’re going to be protected.

Now when we make a steel version... That should hold up to just about anything

Here are a few pictures of the passenger side installed. That gap on the top plate will be filled in on a final version, and all the welds will be ground smooth.

First forklift test on the center. Lifted the whole bronco without issues with the forks on the very front of the step. This was to simulate the front tire coming off a obstacle, dropping the weight of the bronco on the slider.

Watch those forks flex as it picks up the bronco.

Started doing some work on the F 150 Aluminum rock sliders/steps.

Need to finish up a few nut plates and I should be good to make a prototype.

Well, it finally happened. We now have multiple options for actual rock sliders from two outstanding companies.

White-Knuckle Offroad, my personal favorite.

RCI Metalworks, which I'm going with, this time.

Because, America, Fuck Yeah!
Very cool, however i may be more interested in that Raptor imitation bumper

If it's priced right and can take the full weight of the truck on a four foot drop I'll be interested, also needs to have a kick out and preferably be able to use for exit entry into the vehicle. I know I don't have many wishes!

While you're at it, it needs to have a dog paw wash installed and integrated thrusters to help cushion that 4 foot drop

Another company had issues with the factory skid plates (I think the chin skid) to get the front stabilizer to the frame.
Looking forward to seeing it come to life!

You could always tie in another windshield washer and reservoir to one of your upfitter switches to make a paw wash 😁

SDHQ makes weld on sliders

I threw up a video a couple weeks ago about them. I went with the RCI. Pretty happy, but haven't got to go abuse them yet.

How difficult were they to install. Is this something an average person can do on their own. I have been looking at these for my 2022 F150 Tremor.

I did my wife's Bronco in less than two hours. RCI does a pretty good job of designing for installation and use. Now if RCI could give me the wheel to wheel version with a front spar,...

Agreed - wheel to wheel protection is a must!

I was more than happy with the RCI skids and sliders on my Tacoma and would like to buy from RCI again

This evening I put an order in for the RCI rock sliders because they are having a Labor Day sale at 25% off. But now I notice their website says F-150 2015-2023. Anyone know if their rock sliders will fit a 2024 F-150 Tremor?

Same frame as a 21 F150 so should not be an issue.
