I tow often with my Tremor...about 4k of the 15k miles it has on it has been with the trailer and equipment on board.

This is my typical setup and loaded stance of the truck.

The bed does have tools, etc in it...and this is the "light load" as the fuel jugs are empty. When they are full its another 250+lbs near the front of the trailer and I'll typically place a car a touch further back to balance things out.

1450# trailer - 2700# car - 400# "stuff" on trailer gives roughly 4550#...not a lot.

Then maybe another 350# to 400# in the bed depending on the weekend.

While towing at 75 - 78 on cruise control I'll see water temps rise to 217F to 219F in South Florida...so flat, but hot and typically windy. I also run premium when I tow to help combat heat/knock, etc. Is this typical for these trucks? The trans is usually cooler so it seems to be doing fine. Truck is 100% stock.

On the suspension side...it does tend to bounce a bit...seems like its bouncing off of the bump stops all the time so I need to address that with Timbren or RAS and upgrade shocks at some point.

Just looking to check in and make sure temps are good, or if there are items that should be done for long term reliability when towing.

Thanks!!

I run airlift bags/daystar cradle combo (mix the extra tow and offroad articulation without having to fart with don/doff RAS). Helped with a bit of the bounce before I went bilstein but the leafs are still on the soft side. I run a WD hitch so not a 1:1 but air in the bags def helps the bounce (testing some weight shifting for tongue load too). Is it just the pic or is the trailer nose down a hair? Might help a bit getting a slightly higher ball height?

Seems normal to me on temps. I run about the same towing a ~6800 camper and it seems like there's more than one thermal bypass. Mine seems to hit a secondary bypass around 220F then cools back down to 210-215 for a while. I've heard 10R80s like being on the warm side - I freaked out a little seeing it so high on the first couple drives compared to everything else I've had lol. 70 seems to be the sweet spot for me with the giant sail out back for keeping everything happy and not completely killing mileage (stays in 10th and out of boost) but obv apples and oranges with a lighter car trailer.

Tow mode for trans pressures/engine braking, decent load balancing, and find where it wants to be for 10th gear where its not downshifting for an overpass but not in boost the whole time to save some gas money for the track.

Just towed a travel trailer from Florida Panhandle to North Dakota and back. Trailer is approximately 6,500 as towed. Running mostly 60 to 65 mph, highest coolant temp was 220 according to my Banks iDash Guage. This was when pulling in mountains. Temp normally ran around 200 to 210 at most.
I’m also running larger tires than stock (315/70 R17 @ 34.4 tall & 64 lbs each) and did run premium while towing. Up North it was 91 octane non-ethanol.

Always in tow mode for sure. It runs in 10th but will be in boost with headwinds.

The trailer is just a hair nose down...i do need to get an adjustable hitch so I can dial that in. Ill be doing that over the next few weeks along with maintenance on the trailer itself...check brake linings, pack bearings and replace tongue jack that got beat up last outing.

I've got a BW tongue scale if you're ever further north and wanna fart with it...or if youre like peacock bass south and not cafecito on a street corner south i might make a trip.

I've got their adjustable height hitch too and love it for that kinda shit where a yard trailer is higher/lower than a boat trailer. handy to move the camper around the yard vs slapping the weight dist on it every time too.
