Tremor vs Raptor - I know this is probably a ridiculous question

Buy a Lariat and dump a bunch time/effort/money into it getting it where I needed it or buy a Raptor and declaw it/commit treason by swapping fenders and suspension to make it more "nimble" and tow capable. Former Tremor owner ('21) and had the chance to hop into a '23 Raptor w/37 package. I'm a little shocked some of you are saying the Tremor suspension is better, rather, rides better than the Raptor. Seems like you haven't spent much time in a Raptor other than a quick spin. There is really no comparison between the two trucks suspension wise, specifically the Gen 3. Tremor is a great truck for what you pay, imo. I had a 2.5 gen Tundra and it felt like upgrading to an iPhone from an old school flip phone. I'd only suggest a Tremor if you plan to tow heavier weights such as a +20' camper. I live in VA and primarily use my truck for Appalachia overland/camping with some off road stuff. Unless you count the VA and NC beaches, I haven't done much "desert running" lol. The Raptor is by far and away the better truck especially when you can control the dampers, steering feel, & exhaust note all from the steering wheel. Coil suspension is miles better than leafs. Live valve shocks really are that good. You wouldn't dare jump your Tremor. Only down side is dealers charging ADM, so you're looking at < $80K. After a week or so parking is not a big deal. A full size truck is a full size truck at the end of the day.

I get it. I was looking at the new Toyota TRD Pro's just to check them out and the dealer would barely let you sit in them much less test drive. I paid +$5K ADM and was ok with that as I was able to take advantage of the value of my Tremor and used truck prices in general at the time. I drove my friends gen 2 Raptor a few years back and was too smitten by it to really take note of the rear travel/leaf suspension at the time so I can't compare the Gen 2 raptor to Tremor. Loved my Tremor for the time I had it, but took the opportunity on the raptor and have not been disappointed.

19' Raptor to 22' Tremor. After the 5 star tune in the Tremor power wise feels somewhat similar. However I'd say the suspension on the Raptor is miles ahead of my Tremor with a 2.5" RC lift installed. Specially off-road and I'm not speaking of "jumping" and 120 mph runs but just in general. My Tremor is more comfy on the highway. I'd have to dump 10k in suspension parts in the Tremor to come close to the Raptor.

Funny, this topic was on my mind yesterday, and I planned to post it here. I read the same comments about the Tremor suspension/ride being better than a Raptor.

I picked up my Tremor last week and had a Gen 2 Raptor prior. The Tremor drives like a pillowy truck, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Cushy, a little lumbering, dives when braking, and body rolls on turns. The Gen 2 Raptor (and I hear the Gen 3 is even better) was just far superior in ride, which it should be.

I am still very pleased with the Tremor purchase overall. I will eventually upgrade the suspension if I can find a viable option.

Raptors are starting to pile up and not moving. I had my dealer offer me a 2023 Raptor 35 in Baby Blue/Azure Gray? for $5 K under invoice. He was shocked I didn't want to trade the Tremor in. I told him if I wanted a Raptor I would have bought one. This is the same dealership that wanted a $10K Mark up on my Tremor. I purchased my Tremor at a different dealership because they wouldn't move on it. Karl Malone Ford in PC has a row of Raptors. Marked up and not selling, even a R. $111K for the 37, $99K for a 35 and $175 for an R. Even if I had FU money, I would tell them to F off. Utah has one of the highest truck markets around but go out of state and TRX's and Raptors can be had for sticker or less. My buddy just bought a fully loaded TRX for $98K out the door in Texas. Why even look at a lame EcoBoost Raptors for that price? Even if you bleed blue.

Also remember the Raptor is the desert truck. The Tremor is the trail truck. Superduty's the work truck.

It's such a scam that dealers can get away with charging so much above MSRP on these trucks, especially the R. $100K for a base Raptor is equally insane. You can find them at MSRP or close to it. I traveled to western VA to find mine away from the big metro areas. Also, Raptor is great on trails and articulating on uneven ruts/rocks. I disagree there. Tremor is narrower sure, but for any of those narrow trails I don't think any of use are risking pin-striping. Those are for the Jeep/Tacoma/Bronco crowd.

I wanted a Raptor, but I'm not paying over $90K for a V8 Raptor. Instead, I'm supercharging a V8 Tremor, adding upgraded off-road suspension (King, Fox, or Icon... still deciding) , better wheels and tires and I'm going to have better towing with the offroad trailer (OBI Dweller 15). And adding the heated steering wheel back All for UNDER what a V6 Raptor will cost.

I plan on getting a few pin stripes from close trails and with upgraded suspension and the options on the Tremor I'll have what I wanted and be just as fast or faster than 90% of the Raptors.

I had a chance to buy a raptor for $82, I chose the tremor 402a fir $19k less. The raptor is absolutely a better suspension but I wouldn’t use it. I don’t even need the tremor but it rides so smooth. Ha. If I off-roadbed I’d have bought raptor.

Most i need out of a truck is the ability to drive on logging/forest service roads in Oregon. The Tremor is perfect for that. 99% of raptor owners don't need more than that either. But i agree if you have the money the Raptor is an awesome truck if you can find it under MSRP.

I've driven German imports most of my life, and never really thought I'd be a truck owner. A few years ago I bought a new Super Duty (Didn't enjoy the turning radius or highway driving experience), and was able to trade it in on a Raptor. The Raptor was too "bouncy" for me on the highway. Ultimately I sold it.

Recently I had a rental F150 XL and really liked the ride (compared to what I remembered about the Raptor).

After some research it seems like the Tremor sits between the traditional F150 and the Raptor. Not quite as wide, not quite as soft on the suspension. I'm hoping they drive better on the highway.

Any thoughts on this? How does the community typically feel about the Tremor vs Raptor. The price differential isn't that great. Is it that they serve a different audience, or does a Raptor guy think the Tremor is below them, etc. Would the typical Tremor person buy a Raptor if they could afford it, or can most Tremor drivers afford a Raptor and they specifically wanted the Tremor.

Just curious to get some feedback.

Personally, I love my Tremor. Rides very nice on the highway, tows my 5K trailer with ease, not ridiculous around town, didn't even consider the Raptor - way too much for my needs. Really, the Tremor is more than I need but is sure a nice upgrade from an FX4 or other model and more my style.

I'm sure it's a little about price, especially with dealer markups (a Raptor at the dealer I bought my Tremor from was marked up $20K above MSRP).

In my opinion, the Raptor is too wide, too stiff, and just not a great every day ride. On the other hand, the Tremor is an awesome daily driver with a very reasonable off-road package. I like to think of the 402A as the love child of a Lariat and a Raptor.

If it's not going to be your off-road toy, the Tremor is much more practical and balanced. In fact, my favorite feature is that it doesn't stick out like a Raptor. To most drivers, it's just another pickup truck.

When I was researching it, I read somewhere that the Tremor was "a Raptor for grown ups." I get what they meant. I don't want to make a statement…I just want an awesome truck that still mostly blends in.

I agree and like that last statement. For grown ups. That kind of says is all.

I’m very surprised people are saying the ride on raptors is stiff, I’ve owned a 2018 Fx4, 2019 Raptor, 2023 Tremor and a 2023 Raptor, my current truck, and out of all of them both of my raptors were significantly better at absorbing bumps and pit holes than both of my regular F150s. The only thing that I would consider “worse” is the width of the Raptor. Makes some driving a bit more stressful. That and the reduced towing as well. But I’ve only been limited by the raptors towing capacity once in all of my years of driving trucks. It’ll haul the SxS and boat just fine. Also the amount of off-road abuse and jumps I’ve taken my raptor through is not something I would’ve even considered in my other f150s. With that being said the tremor is more than capable enough off road for most people. But if you want to do some serious high speed runs and still have a warranty, there’s only one way to go.

I prefer the Tremor over the Raptor personally (I find the Raptor too wide as a daily and a bit too extravagant in look), but respect your opinion and having owned both your comment is more than relevant in this thread.

I am amazed at people getting upset because other humans have a different opinion than theirs. This is a web forum. It’s made to share opinions and debate them. If you are upset to read something positive about a Raptor in a Tremor VS Raptor thread you have nothing to do on this forum.
