Hey all,
I spend most of my time over on the Super Duty side of the forum (2023 F-350 Platinum Tremor), where I run the whiskey club and help organize meet-ups and off-road trips, so a lot of you don’t know me yet. Here’s a quick intro and a full disclosure up front: my wife Nune and I started a coffee company,
Nairi Coffee, and you can find us at drinknairi.com.
Why coffee? It started with me trying to be a good husband. If you ever meet my wife, you’ll quickly learn that a good cup of coffee is part of her morning ritual, and getting it right sets up the whole day. She drinks it black, so a bad bean has nowhere to hide. (I’m the latte drinker in the house.)
We like darker roasts, so I bought three 5 lb bags of three different beans from a well-regarded specialty roaster. The first bag we opened she thought it was just okay. She absolutely hated the other two. It was good coffee; it just wasn’t the right coffee for us. Rather than have her start every morning with a cup she didn’t like, I dumped over $300 worth of coffee in the trash and went back to something I knew she wouldn’t hate.
That’s where the idea for Nairi Coffee came from. There was no way to know before buying that those beans wouldn’t suit us. Buying in bulk had its own cost, too: I’d spent extra money breaking it down into mason jars I could vacuum seal to keep it fresh. Coffee doesn’t really spoil, but it does go stale and loses flavor over time, and gambling on 5 lb bags we’d never tasted was an expensive mistake.
So we set out to fix that: match you to the right high-quality coffee before you commit to it, get it to you freshly roasted, and send it in quantities you’ll finish while it still tastes the way it should.
The name comes from my wife’s heritage. Nairi is the ancient name for the Armenian Highlands, the “land of rivers.”
How we're different
- Matched to your palate. A quiz asks about flavors you already know: chocolate, desserts, scents. No coffee vocabulary needed. Think of it like working through a whiskey flight: figure out what you actually like, then find more of it. If you already know what you want, you can skip the matching and pick it yourself.
- Sized to how you actually drink. You tell us how many people drink coffee, how they brew, and how much. We size each shipment and time it so the next bag shows up as the last one runs low. If two of you brew different ways, say drip and French press, each grind gets its own bag.
- Brewing recipes for your setup. Every bag has a QR code that goes to that coffee’s recipe page, covering every brew method that suits it. Follow it and you’ll get a great cup without being a coffee nerd.
- Fresh specialty coffee. We are a member of a roasters collective, and as a collective we source, profile, and roast our coffee. It’s freshly roasted and ships within days of the roast, and because each bag is sent as the last one runs low, it’s fresh when you open it, too. There are 47 coffees, whole bean or ground for your brewer. For the bourbon fans, there’s even a Whiskey Barrel.
The basics: $26.50 (12 oz), $34.50 (16 oz), $59.50 (2 lb), with shipping included anywhere in the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico. There’s no commitment: you can cancel anytime, you’re billed per shipment, and swapping coffees is always free. Your first shipment is one 12 oz bag of your match, so you can try it before the regular shipments start. Your first three coffees are covered by our matching guarantee: if one misses, we make it right, no argument. The one exception is our reduced-caffeine coffees.
Member offer: 20% off your first five shipments
The code is one use per member, works on subscriptions only, and can’t be combined with other offers.
