What's new

🛠️ What have you done to your F150 Tremor this week?

Looks like the shop did a very nice job spraying in the liner.
What brand is it?
They did a great job! I can tell you for sure, that it's not Line-X, but to be completely honest, I'm not sure the brand haha. Local coatings company in my city here in Alberta. I also had to drop off after hours and get someone from the office to pick it up for me as I'm oilfield and my work schedule is kinda crazy at times. Doesn't say on their website either so possibly just a proprietary brand haha

Added Husky hood Deflector since I'm an unlucky guy

I got a Patriot liner (not sure if thats the brand) and it has been working great with gravel, dirt, mulch etc. The shop did a great job of removing the tailgate, trim, screws etc then spraying and reassembling. From what I was told, Ford just sprays in directly over everything.

Not a mod, but took her on the Cherohala Skyway …and then down the tail of the dragon today.

Never thought I’d take a 4x4 truck down the dragon. lol

Always thought that “sport” mode was sort of useless and silly but used it on this trek in 2wd and it really did wonders in the sense of shifting 💪

Man we were gonna ride it a couple weeks or so back when we were in Gatlinburg and out seeing the family but didn't because of time.
I've done it on my v-rod and my 69 camaro but never in a truck. That had to be fun along with a touch of nerves in the Tremor 🤟

lol I didn't really push it at all, so it was nothing special but really funny how much body roll was going on. On 129 getting to the dragon, I started smelling the brakes, it was after that I switched to Sport mode and the engine braking helped a lot. In normal mode it was constantly upshifting when it shouldn't.

Yeah these guys took everything off before spraying as well. I'm really happy with it! Only thing I've hauled so far is my golf clubs haha

Used the day off to do a little upgrade!

Left my SS3, and swapped out the yellow SSC2 for a pair of SSC1 SAE pods. White SS3 and SSC1 operated by factory fog wiring, and Aux 4 for the yellow SSC1's in the fog pockets and A-pillar brackets. Fog wings are now fully utilized

Stuffed the intake on between swarms of mosquitos last night.

So looking at these, someone explain to me why the low least expensive one is quoted to having the most gains when it looks like it’s exposed to the engine bay air temperatures. Are they saying even though it may be exposed to engine Bay temperatures it has less restrictive airflow. Also, does anybody know if you go with the ford performance Procal tune with this cold air intake be maximized or do you need a custom tune to take advantage of it?

1. Air intake temps are reduced from the intercooler so my thoughts would be the increased flow allows for more power. I would also think this in conjunction with turbo inlet pipes would further improve upon the stated power increase.
2. A tune is not needed for the ECU to "adapt" for an intake. I have the same aFe intake (but with oiled filter), CVF turbo inlet pipes, CVF High Mount IC with hot and cold side piping, and CVF catted downpipes without a tune. I have zero issues and have only noticed improvements at this point.

Thanks for the reply. That all makes sense to me. More air flow even if warmer air is still better than less air. Your mods are generally my end game. I was going to go with the ProCal tune as well.
I have run K&N air filters most the time so likely going to go with oil one. Do you have a “cheapo” spare that you use while waiting for the other to dry? If so where did you get it? I always have bought the cheapest one possible to be my place holder till I get the other back in.

did the CVF catted down pipes increase the noise level? I honestly do not want to increase the noise. I like the exhaust noise as it is stock. Once I go down the route I may reach out to you about the intercooler swap.

Thanks

I have not ordered a replacement filter as cleaning and oiling the filter will not create significant down time. The CVF downpipes do make the truck a little bit louder but not in an annoying riced out way, sounds good.

Cold Start

Warm Idle
