2024 F-150 Tremor 5.0 – Oil Leak at ~10k Miles (Pics Attached)

That’s not nice.

Same thing happened to me, you already replied to my thread on the 14th gen F150 Forum.

Let me know if you need anymore advice.
Update.

The dealer is ordering a new short block assembly, " block porosity".

Yeah that’s a new one, what year is your truck again?

There was a TSB for that if I remember. This is the best case.

I don’t think they are replacing the short block, they are replacing the service block. Short block would require a rebuild effectively. I would ask them for the tech’s RCA and notes.

24, 5.0, Manufactured Nov 24.

This is the TSB that he was referring to.

Sorry to hear about your issue but it’s awesome that you’re getting a new engine.
Hopefully you won’t be without your TREMOR for too long.

I was without mine for 3 months, so... :)

Thank you.

Does short block replacement mean a new engine? I am fairly new to the mech stuff.

Well I'm surprised they are doing the short-block at all. The short block typically consists of the rotating assembly (Pistons, rods, crank), the Block itself (without heads) and that's about it.

This means they are going to pretty much completely tear into the engine, take the heads off, put them on the short block, re-install the valve covers, new gaskets and RTV sealer etc; Alot of work.

The Long Block/Service block (which is what they did for me) consists of the short block + the heads and valve cover.

Are you serious?
Damn.
Did they give you a free loaner?
I hope they give the OP one.
The second dealer gave me a loaner, the first dealer did not. Ford gave me some fun-money, still, frustrating.

Thank you.

Basically yes because it involves everything below the actual cylinder heads whereas the term “long block” means with cylinder heads.

Lemon law that truck and get a new one.
Ford won't let him unless he can articulate a good enough argument that being without his truck is detrimental personally. Which requires a different lawyer.

Each state is different, in Oregon, you only qualify for Lemon Law if the vehicle is out of service for more than 30 days and/or there were more than 3 consecutive repairs to fix the same thing.

FWIW, I read your posts before sending it to just any dealers close to my place. I sent it to one of the better (well... size, history, review, etc) dealer.
It sounds like they are rebuilding the engine.

I only had a 21 Tacoma before this tremor, and the Taco was totaled by a careless driver going into me. Not too well-versed in the truck mechanic world.

I am concerned that the rebuild may cause other issues down the road compared to a new engine.
