2023 5.0 - New engine at 4800 miles
Bought a 2023 401A Tremor with the Coyote back in September. Put about 4000 miles on it and noticed a small oil leak around the bell housing + rear of oil pan. Cleaned it off a few times, then it got really bad. Oil spatter all over the undercarriage. After long drives, you can smell the oil...www.f150gen14.com
Let me know if you need anymore advice.
Yeah that’s a new one, what year is your truck again?Update.
The dealer is ordering a new short block assembly, " block porosity".
24, 5.0, Manufactured Nov 24.Yeah that’s a new one, what year is your truck again?
There was a TSB for that if I remember. This is the best case.
I don’t think they are replacing the short block, they are replacing the service block. Short block would require a rebuild effectively. I would ask them for the tech’s RCA and notes.
Odd. Did they address the leak at the rear? That’s not caused by this TSB.
Nope.Odd. Did they address the leak at the rear? That’s not caused by this TSB.
Sorry to hear about your issue but it’s awesome that you’re getting a new engine.Update.

I was without mine for 3 months, so...Sorry to hear about your issue but it’s awesome that you’re getting a new engine.
Hopefully you won’t be without your TREMOR for too long.
Thank you.Sorry to hear about your issue but it’s awesome that you’re getting a new engine.

Well I'm surprised they are doing the short-block at all. The short block typically consists of the rotating assembly (Pistons, rods, crank), the Block itself (without heads) and that's about it.Thank you.
Does short block replacement mean a new engine? I am fairly new to the mech stuff.
Tough luck, no loaner. Are you serious?
Damn.
Did they give you a free loaner?
I hope they give the OP one.
The second dealer gave me a loaner, the first dealer did not. Ford gave me some fun-money, still, frustrating. Are you serious?
Damn.

I would get Ford on the phone NOWTough luck, no loaner.
Basically yes because it involves everything below the actual cylinder heads whereas the term “long block” means with cylinder heads.Thank you.

Lemon law that truck and get a new one.Tough luck, no loaner.
Ford won't let him unless he can articulate a good enough argument that being without his truck is detrimental personally. Which requires a different lawyer.Lemon law that truck and get a new one.

This means they are going to pretty much completely tear into the engine, take the heads off, put them on the short block, re-install the valve covers, new gaskets etc; Alot of work.
The Long Block/Service block (which is what they did for me) consists of the short block + the heads and valve cover.
