'23 Tremors with Deleted Heated Steering Wheel

Anyone near the Pittsburgh area, I will pay you to come do this for me haha. I do not trust myself with this at all but really miss my heated steering wheel. I'm not sure a Ford dealership would do these changes since you then need Forscan to make the changes. I guess if I'm willing to pay for it, they should do what I ask, and they would just say "but none of this will work for you" with a wink wink of Forscan existing.
I'm in State College area, have FDRS and the Mongoose cable, if you get the parts I'll do it for you.

Ordered my 23 last year came in in February and heated steering wheel delete but I do have the bed camera. Although I run a camper cap on it so it doesn't do me any good LOL

So I was searching the other forums for part numbers for this swap and so we don't have to go searching around figured I'd add them here: If there are any further or better descriptions for these, please let me know so I can edit them here. Once I get the Raptor Wheel P/N's I'll post them here for all of us so we don't need to go searching for hours trying to figure it out.

Good YouTube Video on how to remove dash trim/and install of SCCM and HVAC module

HVAC Controller with Heated Steering Wheel button with LED temp readout (P/N: ML3Z-19980-K)
HVAC Controller with Heated Steering Wheel button (P/N: NL3Z-1998-S)

Tremor heated Steering wheel (P/N: ML3Z-3600-VA)
Tremor SCCM (P/N: ML3Z-3F791-BB)

For the Ford Raptor Steering Wheels, we'll need the Raptor SCCM and then there are various raptor wheels... will need to get the correct P/N's for those.

Raptor Steering Wheel - no idea if code orange or not (P/N: NL3V-3600 PBE3119W)

There is no difference in the SCCM between a Raptor/Tremor/Lariat/XLT/etc. so long as it has the pins for the heated wheel. The only difference would be whether or not you have a power or manual telescopic steering column, but those buttons just bolt on to the SCCM. The only SCCM difference would be if you have a Limited with the special steering wheel that tightens the turn radius at slower speeds (adaptive steering).

That isn't what I read in the 70+ page thread on the F150 forum. I've read that in order to get the paddle shifters to work with the raptor wheel, you'll need the raptor SCCM (HB vs. BB).

No. You just need to either already have the wiring for the paddle shifters in place (seems to be the case in 402a pkg) or add the wires to the connector which plugs into the back of the SCCM yourself. SCCM is still the same, its whether or not the pins for the paddle shifters are already wired in the connector. I can verify this as I have a Raptor steering wheel with working paddle shifters and used the BB SCCM. My wiring was already in place but there is a write up on the F150 Forum on how to add that wiring.

You're correct. I misspoke. I guess that happens when you reply quickly after a 4 hour meeting at work. I believe the SCCM with the -HB is if you want to use the Raptor steering wheel buttons and not have to swap out to your original steering wheel buttons.

That could be. I never looked into that

Anyone have a dealer raise an eyebrow bringing in a 2023 for warranty work with a heated wheel and digital temp readouts? What's the chance they actually notice (if they care, lol). A new HVAC module better than FORSCAN I assume? I got the 75k bumper/bumper and maintenance.

They are not going to notice or care. Took my ‘17 Lariat with a Raptor steering wheel in for warranty times. No one ever said anything

Out of curiosity, do we know if the folks who have a MY23 built within the 22G06 code range (Sep 22, 2022 - Mar 29, 2023) received a $140 credit or was it less? I received the $140 credit and my tremor was built May 2023. The woman I spoke with at Corperate said there's a chance Ford is rolling out retrofits in different time frames and that mine may qualify for a later date, but who knows.

It was a $140 credit for Tremors in that date range. I think only Lightnings got the $50 credit as they also got the correct SCCM

Got ya. So even if I received the $140 credit, there’s a chance my VIN will qualify for the free upgrade at a later date?

I would doubt it since Ford specifically stated there would be no retrofits when they did that deletion, but I guess there is always a chance. I don’t know what they told Lightning buyers

Yes, and it is confusing. However, if you will notice that if effects only 6,261 vehicles then there is no way that it will be for ICE F150s built between Sept. 22, 2022 and March 29, 2023. If it were to apply to the ICE side as well that would be like 6k vehicles per month, so 30k for those 5 months.

Ford should have a dedicated website for owners to type in their VIN# to see if their vehicle is one of the over 6K vehicles affected.

Just found a good video of a guy removing the dash trim and installing the SCCM, HVAC control, and a few other things. Pretty good video.

Thanks for this

Ordered everything this morning from Lakeland Ford and they emailed saying the wheel wasn't in stock, and if I wanted to cancel the entire order or just the wheel... what a disappointment. No wonder they were the only ones with it available!

What did the cost for parts come to? Did the dealership give you a labor quote as well?
