'23 Tremors with Deleted Heated Steering Wheel

What did the cost for parts come to? Did the dealership give you a labor quote as well?
If you look up the part numbers I give at the start of page 2 you can get an idea of parts cost.

My initial parts list, the dash control went out of stock on EBAY so I was going to FORSCAN it onto the screen and then the dealer didn't have the wheel- so canceled it. No labor as I am shipping this to me

My buddy is looking at purchasing a '23 Tremor and is finding that they don't have the heated steering wheel. When I bought my '22, my guy told me that '23's would not have a heated steering wheel and I thought he was just pulling my leg. Apparently it's true.

HERE'S THE QUESTION: Can it be added (either by the dealer or otherwise) after purchase? Is the element not available in the wheel or is it a wiring issue?

Thanks guys!
Mine has it.

My 23 has heated wheel. Built in November. But no bed camera.

Is there a way to tell if my wheel is heated and I would only need the SCCM?
I heard that it's more "squishy"? Or would I have to remove the air bag and check for the wiring?

I have the same question, do you or anyone have the answer?

There is definitely a difference of the 'hardness' or 'spongeness' between the steering wheels with and without the heating element. I felt mine was definitely on the harder side and took a gamble on it that I would need the wheel too. I was correct as mine did not have the heating element and now that I have one with it I can tell the difference big time. Posted this on another thread I think, but a big shout out to @schlotzj for all his help in getting me set up with a heated steering wheel, some ambient lighting, and other things.

I know in his truck he took his apart first to make sure he did not have the wiring, but I was not at all confident in doing that. It's why I took it to him to do the swap for me haha.

The only real way to tell is to remove the airbag. It only takes a min. Videos online showing how to

This is the correct advice but I still didn't want to mess with it. Fortunately my gamble and hunch paid off. Sucks we are even in this position but no one that could do anything about it cares or wants to hear it anyway.

So I remove the airbag and then how do I know if I have the wiring, and how do I know if I have the heated wheel?
I am trying to understand if I need to order just the SCCM, SCCM + wheel, or SCCM + wheel + wire

To elaborate on what ThickGatorade said, in the pic below the connector circled in red means the wheel is heated. The connector circled in blue is the SCCM. If there are pins present in it, then the SCCM can power the heated wheel. If there are no pins present and it is just a dummy spot, then you need a new SCCM. The backside of the SCCM (accessed by opening up the shroud around the steering column as shown in rkrichter's first pic) has connectors that mirror the front (a larger one for the steering wheel buttons like radio, cruise, etc. - circled in green; the smaller one for the heated wheel). If there are wires going to the back side then the wiring is in place so power this, if not, then you need to run a wire from the passenger side footwell BCM fuse panel.

Read through the link in post #2 for more info. It outlines everything you need to know to do this retrofit.

Very jealous. I miss having one and it's on my to do list for sure, this time of year is my constant "get on it stupid" reminder. 😆

Thinking about this again, this was a $800 project last year, looking at $614 plus tax right now from Lakeland Ford. Wheel is only $200
Save $150 if you don't need the button, add $180 if you want the digital temp readouts.

Dash Control - No temp screens https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/119686308/NL3Z-19980-S.html NL3Z-19980-S $157.08
Tremor Wheel https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/105752920/ML3Z-3600-VA.html ML3Z-3600-VA $202.96
SCCM https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/Column-Housing-Steering/105752924/ML3Z3F791BB.html ML3Z-3F791-BB $250.16

Can anyone possibly help me out, I'm having trouble navigating through Ford's part catalog. I'm looking for the SCCM for the 401a with manual adjustment and no rain sensing wipers.

Reviving this as I am running into issues sourcing parts for this mod, namely the SCCM and Dash Control. Trying to source P/N ML3Z-3F791-BB keeps coming back as "does not fit your vehicle" across multiple Ford OEM Parts retailers. Instead it keeps directing me to P/N ML3Z-3F791-DD https://www.oemfordpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/ford-column-housing-ml3z3f791dd for models with active steering, or P/N ML3Z-3F791-EC https://www.oemfordpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/ford-column-housing-ml3z3f791ec for models w/o active steering. From the looks of the parts diagram, it appears that it does not include the clock spring, just the SCCM. P/N ML3Z-19980-S also says it does not fit the '23 Tremor. Instead, P/N ML3Z-19980-K https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/Fo...ature-Control-Panel/105734904/ML3Z19980K.html seems to be the only P/N that is compatible. I would really like to know whether the original P/Ns do in fact fit (I'm thinking that Ford superseded the parts and now it just lists as not being compatible) or if I need to reuse my current clock spring in the new P/N SCCM? Any help would be greatly appreciated. FWIW, I have a '23 Tremor 402A, build date 08/23, with the $140 heated wheel delete on the sticker. I have yet to pull the column shroud off to see if the SCCM is wired until I can get some clarity on what part or parts I need to order. I have an aftermarket wheel with the heating element that I haven't installed yet.

I purchased that exact part (ML3Z-3F791-BB) when I did the Raptor wheel conversion and had no issues, it was plug and play. It came as a whole unit with the clockspring and stalk/power tilt buttons.

Good to know. I may just buy it and see. Still have to open up the shroud and verify whether or not I have the wiring in place or if I need to run some.

It's not true. Mine has a heated wheel.

If anyone wants to travel to Hershey, PA…I’ve done the heated steering wheel, cupholders/door/media bin ambient lights and glovebox light installs on 3 trucks that had these deleted from the factory and would be happy to help. I have also made numerous Forscan changes. @rkrichter was one of the trucks I did and can attest to the work completed.
