23MY F150 Steering Wheel – Heat Removal and Mirrors, Sideview-Heated Glass Removal

Just in case anyone on here isn't also in tune with the announcement over at f150gen14/blueovalforums: https://blueovalforums.com/forums/i...n-information/&do=findComment&comment=1193630

Heated steering wheel is definitely a luxury that some might find unimportant, but heated mirrors are basically a must for any place that gets remotely cold and/or humid.

Personally, if this affects the Tremor, which it looks like it will, I'm probably going to back out of the order. An MSRP of $70k+ without those things is kind of ridiculous but beyond that, for future resale purposes, a potential purchaser could decide you have "one of those versions" that is missing items that make it worth less than a slightly different month-built version of your exact truck. That's not really a risk I'm comfortable taking when purchasing a vehicle at this price point that may prove difficult to get rid of in the future if need be.
Do the mirrors still power fold? It appears missing from build and price.

First post on here but been reading for a few months. I have a blend date of 11/29 for a 402A.

Anyone find out details on what it would take to make the heated steering wheel functional? Does the wheel have the parts inside it? Is the button on the dash blank? Any info out there on this? What’s actually needed to make it function with them “deleting” it and crediting my window sticker $140?

Mine has the “advanced security pack” removal for $50 as well.

Been reading a lot about the ambient lighting on the interior missing now as well. Along with the fender emblems. Kind of hard to accept a $73,830.00 truck is missing so many items. The base price went up $1,000 a month ago or so and they’re taking items off the truck. Everyone knows this but jeez. An incomplete truck at $73,000.

I asked and no one can answer that yet.

Dang. Not to compare other brands but at least GM is doing a retrofit for the Silverado and Sierra on missing components. It doesn’t sound like Ford is offering that.

No. It has to be the arrogance of having the best selling truck, well, in the history of trucks. This last couple of years Ford has definitely been out of touch with what people are willing to accept. You ordered a apecific truck, you expect that truck to be delivered

You nailed it on the head. Perfectly stated.

Regarding GM and their retrofits… I haven’t heard many good things. From what I’ve heard from some of my clients, most dealerships don’t know when they will be receiving the modules to install. So, the grass may not be greener. Also, with the way dealership service departments tend to be, would you really want to chance it?

My understanding is that the heating element itself will not be present in the steering wheel. I don't think this will be a retrofit option - Ford is giving you $140 credit as compensation for the option being deleted. As for whether the button is there or not, I have no idea, but someone who has taken delivery of a '23 could probably confirm that.

I also haven't seen a '23 without the correct fender emblems either. It appears Ford was temporarily out of stock, and rather than holding trucks for fender emblems, they shipped some trucks with blanks.

I have a stealth 22. No fender badges. Doesn’t look bad, but I would prefer to get the badging sooner rather than later. There are threads on adding the heated steering wheel, but I can’t speak to how easy it is. Looks like acquiring the proper parts and some forscan changes.

I figured it could be retrofitted, but I don't think Ford will offer it. And I am not sure I want my steering wheel disassembled to add the heating element. If I lived in a colder climate, I would certainly be more apt to pursue a retrofit.

Ford won’t do it, that’s for sure. But if you get the parts required, it can be done. If I’m not mistaken, it’s basically replacing the steering wheel with one that has the elements. I’m simplifying of course, but it’s not an insurmountable retrofit.

Yikes! I thought that an entire steering wheel replacement would be worst case scenario - but it would certainly be the simplest option. However, a new steering wheel isn't cheap!

You can retrofit, but parts wise it is ~$1200 or more. The $140 credit from Ford is a slap in the face, but so is everything from them these days.

Project requires new steering wheel, new clockspring, new HVC control unit (so you have the button to turn it on) and some wiring. There is a guy packaging this all up and selling kits. I sourced a different wheel and HVAC unit with the temp on the dials, and the rest of the parts from him (link above that VTR listed). Once my truck comes off chip hold I can report on the retrofit, but people have been retrofitting heated steering wheels on XLTs since the 21's came out.

Thanks for this info!

I thought that GM stopped saying the would add these features in at some point this summer, so only those who had it listed on their window sticker will still get it. My uncle bought a new GM over a year ago and is still waiting for his "recall" to get his heated steering wheel and seats working. His sticker reflected no discount.

For about 6 months I was looking at the Tremor, AT4 and ZR2 Silverado. There were certainly different window stickers I’d pull up and it said retrofit for heated/ventilated seats and steering wheels. It was kind of all over the place. They look to have taken the approach (at least at some point) to keep those items on the top trims. It would be nice if a top trim from Ford like the 402A Tremor would be one of those getting to keep the steering wheel. All the ZR2’s I’ve viewed in the last month are only missing the steering column lock and it’s not a retro-fit item. What a time to be buying a vehicle o_O

I found one for 540.
