What's new

A few more trails to check out in East Tennessee.

Would like to do Trans American trail, it starts in Outer Banks.
Back when I did E/W on my dual sport, it was a general idea that started just outside of Chattanooga. It was a bit less documented than it is now but I could be convinced to do that.

Yep but then again the south fork of holsten river is my backyard, one of the best fly fishing rivers in the country. Banner elk was my skiing and downhill MTN bike location. Sugar mountain, till it started taking longer to recover from crashes it sucks getting old
LOL I still have a scar on my side from sending it on my first trip down Sugar on a non-downhill mtb when I was in school up there.

Check out the SCAR. Its a little more local.

Should be able to download the maps or find the resources to do so for the trails and roads involved.

Watched half of it and loved it. Except for all that pavement.. :)

The pavement is just the links to the trails..... sometimes a necessary evil.

Guys if you check out onX offroad, you can find lots of different trails in your areas, especially out west, but some of these trails I've posted are on onX. A lot of these are found just through searching YouTube when I have down time. Some I have found while driving through an area and then researched it later.

This trail is only about 40 miles from me. If you live in or around NETN or happen to be in the area and you decide to check out this trail watch the weather it is prone to flash floods. Otherwise it's decent fun but tight trail

They also have a SM500. I have heard from some that do it that a good portion is paved. Still a beautiful area and I would pay money to drive those roads vs these long straight coastal roads I burn up everyday!

Didn't you move from those curvy mountain roads to the coastal roads? 😁

I did. Man I love it down here but it’s hard to beat the mountains also. If I didn’t like riding motorbikes and camping so much I probably wouldn’t miss it as much.

Here's another I used to run all the time, lots of bears, they actually shut it down but I hear rumors and found a couple of short videos that people have been able to wheel there in the last couple of years. They shut it down in 2008 and made it a bear preserve. I used to ride mountain bikes here as well, got chased by a bear once, thank God I was heading down hill.
It is a really cool trail that branches out, you can do a short loop or long loop. The long loop is 22miles or so the short loop is around 12.

A different side of it but the same trail or a different branch of it I guess you would say.

And a different section or branch, you can literally spend a day or two and have a blast there. I do hope it is back open again, I need to contact a ranger buddy of mine and find out.

Ha! Makes me consider an ebike. I'm pretty sure my old fat mass can't outrun a bear uphill. That said, I don't know many bears that would try to attack something larger than them.

Yeah well this was 20 yrs ago, if you started at the bottom you had an 8 mile climb to first top of the mountain, mix of gravel and dirt, then you could ride for about 5-6 miles across 4-5 ridges. I had just topped out on the second ridge when I heard the bear coming, I passed my buddy up and just screamed bear, I figured if he caught us he would get him first.

You don't have to be fast, just faster than the other guy.

I don't remember his name. On a side note I have a slightly bloody and mangled litespeed unicoi mountain bike from 1998 .
