B&O Unleashed Terrifying Problem

I had my truck in a couple weeks ago and they said it had a firmware update or something. Also noticed that i can take android auto full screen now. No issues with it since getting her back but won't be shocked if it happens again.
I have heard from some people that the new update fixed minor issues with android auto/carplay. Last I heard it was FDRS, hoping for OTA soon.

Oh, can i do the update from the truck or need to take it in?

Last I saw (this may not be the case anymore), you have to use FDRS which requires a $500 cable and a $50 two day license, or your dealership may do it for you. Eventually people think it will be pushed out through an OTA update automatically, but not yet as far as I've heard.

Wow, ok, off to the dealership this week
Thanks
I would check first. Some dealerships may be unwilling to do it for you. Never tried going in for just an update myself.

Also I don't know if all trucks can even get the update right now. For a while the discussion was that it was 22 MY only

i had this happen Monday night. Worst experience ever. Started my truck with the Ford ap, went outside 5 min later. Pushed the start button, drove about a block and boom, the sound was deafening. And then the distortion started at an ungodly volume. Like way louder than full volume. nothing worked to make it stop. The radio was showing off, I tried to disconnect my phone, turned off Bluetooth and nothing. Turned the truck off in the middle of the street and that worked. But I literally had to drive home. About 1/2 hr away. And the instant I pushed start, it started again. It was so loud you couldn’t hear me scream into the phone. As I was Recording the experience. 1/2 hr of me driving with my knees and trying to cover my ears when I could. Brutal experience. Got to my house and left it outside just encase. Turned truck off and left it till the am. Of course after sitting for 7 hours it didn’t repeat the problem. Went to the dealership the next day, and of course they’ve never heard of this issue. So now it’s booked in next week for them to go through it. So we’ll see, I have little hope they‘ll find anything. As per the usual with the dealerships out here. I did mention to my salesman that I think the incident affected the speakers. They don’t sound nearly as clear and crisp has they did. So at the very least I hope they can confirm that and replace all 18 speakers. Wishful thinking I’m sure.

2022 F150 platinum with the unleashed system. 6000 Kim’s. Any insight on what dealers have told you guys that have experienced this would be helpful. Truck goes in Tuesday.

It's been about a month since the dealer pushed the update to my truck and so far no recurrance of this problem. I would recommend going to the dealer and requesting they push the latest update that hasn't been pushed ota yet.

I've heard at least one other person say this. They were having it happen frequently, and since the update, nothing. If it wasn't already happening frequently there may be no way of knowing if its been fixed. Some people had it happen once over a year ago, and nothing since even with no update. Mine happened in late June, and it hasn't happened since. I haven't gotten the update. I've also heard from some people who haven't had this issue that the update fixed some inconsistent static that would sometime happened when changing songs on Android auto. With any luck this new update will be the ticket.

The B&O unleashed stereo is awful. I've had my truck about 7 months and on some days they speakers on my entire drivers side dont work at all. Other days it works fine. Apple Car play only works about 60% of the time in my truck. Ususally i have to trun the truck off, open the door, close the door and restart the truck to get it to connect.

I had this happen yesterday for the first time. I just changed over to XM and it went back to working normally. Flipped right back to carplay/Spotify and it was fine.

What does ota stand for ?

Is this an Unleashed only issue? I see 9 pages of this on another forum, but some people aren't confirming that they indeed have the Unleashed system.

Have the B&O Inleashed… So this morning got in the truck and turned it on. All the speakers made a super loud pop/bomb going off sound. Then all the speakers were making a crackling sound. Thought for sure the speakers were all blown. Turned it off and back on, still nothing but the crackling sound. After several minutes started playing music from my carplay

One thing most people are finding, is when it happens switch to AM/FM radio. That seems to stop it, then you can switch back and things function normally. Seems like it's an issue with the digital signal.

Mine did it again yesterday. Got in and before I even started it it made a loud bomb going off sound when the digital dash and 12” screen were starting up. Then it was fine.

Damn, that sucks! Some people got "Lucky" and it happens very rarely. One guy on the GEN14 forums had it happen once in January of 21, and it hasnt happened since. Seems like you might have ended up in the "constantly dealing with this crap" gorup. Really wish I had better news for you, but no one has heard anything from Ford officially.
