B&O Unleashed

Good to hear all of the feedback and tips on making it sound best.
I drove a loaner ‘21 lariat a few months ago and thought the unleashed system sounded pretty good with the following comments:

1. It should be louder. I don’t listen to very loud music often but I was able to turn it all the way up (no distortion) and it was about as loud as my ‘15 at 75%. Kind of like having a truck with a rear locker and front torsen - I will rarely use it but want to know it’s available.
2. The rear sliding glass rattles and is something I will need to address or I won’t be listening to any music. Has anyone come up with a solution for this? My 1990 model Silverado single cab with two 10’s and one 12” rattled but could be solved by cracking the rear glass a little. Can’t be having rattles while I’m bumpin my Too Short!
I agree with the loudness, I was surprised the max was so low. My GTI gets much louder and it's nothing special. The quality of the audio is very good imo, but definitely lacking volume.

it appears Ford cut a .05 cent corner, all they had to do was put some mesh around this cabling in the rear window and it would be solved (assuming this is your issue). sounds like you can fix it with some 3m foam tape

Edit: Ford has a SSM out on the rear glass rattle. SSM 50377 - it states engineering is working on a fix and will come out with it in March.

I just tested out the ‘16 Chevy Silverado work truck I’m driving and it gets physically uncomfortable to listen to above 35/60. Given the sound quality isn’t comparable but still no distortion even up to 45/60.

I wonder if there’s a ‘safe volume’ toggle somewhere similar to what iPods used to have.

Great to hear they are trying to come up with a fix for the window rattle when playing music.

I'll comment just to clear the air on streaming music regardless of the source. All streaming music (or downloaded) is compressed to some point. Streaming music degrades it and quality of sound does not reach the quality off a CD. Yes I stream music from multiple sources. My son is also a sound engineer. Even though I stream a lot of music here's what I do with my favorite music when I want to bang loud with full affect. I buy the CD. Then I rip the music in .wav format. Not .mpg that has compression. Load it all on a high speed flash drive and use it in the car port. If you ever do it like that you will be buying lots of CDs of your best music. Basically, you will be hearing near 100% of recorded frequencies without degradation.

Apple and Amazon (Amazon HD) both have a lossless streaming option but it costs more.

Have a question for anyone else with the B&O Unleashed option in their truck. Do you actually hear anything coming from the speakers in your head rests? I don’t hear anything, almost like they aren’t hooked up. I also have a tinny ringing sound coming from the big speaker in my driver’s side door so will need to get that looked at, just curious if I need to bring up the head rests as well.
I can't hear anything and have set on surround.

Has anyone figured out if there's a forscan setting to raise max volume or something? It really is so lackluster what the max volume is.

I agree with you both. I will say if you adjust the balance in the tiniest increments you can find a Goldilocks zone where you hear both headrest surround and front speakers as well but the volume should of at least gone to 40 instead of 30.

I have not seen the Service bulletin but saw this online today

Official fix is out for rear window rattle TSB 22-2095

Tried googling it and can't find it, can you link the fix?

I haven't seen the TSB myself. Just found this on the Metaverse. Just did a search for the post and cant seem to find it now. I did see someone else on the post mentioned not being able to find it and the OP said something about it being so new it hasn't been published.

Your GTI has the fender stereo. That’s a highly rated system

How bout the ‘16 Silverado work truck I’m driving? It gets much louder. Doesn’t sound nearly as good but it certainly gets much louder.

It was probably the best stock system I've heard, yeah. But this one is just really underwhelming. Going to have to replace the amp and the sub, maybe the speakers, and add the adapter device.

My 17 Lariats sound system sounded a lot better than the b&o unleashed sounds in my new truck.

I feel it sounds amazing. Like someone mentioned you have to stream high quality music. Surround sound I seem to hear a different instrument out of each speaker. Sub is not bad at all. Totally pumped over it. Don’t listen your favorite FM station and judge it sucks.

Same for the mile i drove it lol

What would the $700 upgrade price get you in a stereo shop to improve the included 402A B&O system? I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on an incoming truck that has everything on my order except this option. I’m not sure how big of a priority I should put on the Unleashed option since I was happy with the Sony 700W system in my 2010 Raptor. I mostly listen to recordings of live Jam band music and podcasts.

I’m no expert audiophile but I love to crank up some rock and metal. I was worried about adding the B&O unleashed to my order but I just listened to it in a Raptor and playing the Chili Peppers new album through Amazon Music sounded pretty damn good to me. I turned it up to 22 and that is as loud as I would probably ever go. The ones saying it’s too quiet are either deaf or will be. That is unless the Raptor has a different version which I doubt. The raptor was sitting on the lot at sticker price of 85k which was a great deal compared to where I live but of course it was already sold so the markup wasn’t listed.
