Battery Questions - Maintenance and Jump

I replaced my H6 factory with a H8. Fits perfectly fine. You will need to complete the battery reset when you change out the battery to allow the vehicle to update to the new battery specs.

I was having trouble with my truck and replaced the battery with an H8 from Costco and it has been working great for over a year now. It is larger than the original but fits perfectly like everyone else mentioned. Make sure to follow the instructions mentioned with brake taps etc

My OEM battery only lasted 2 years before remote start wouldn't work because the truck kept taking a nap.
The battery for the f150 diesel V6 is the next size up (H8). It fits right in. Costco sells the AGM for about $185. I did get the larger battery blanket from Ford because the stock size ripped trying to stretch over the larger battery.

I recently did this and it was a great upgrade! Truck never sleeps now.

I hard wired mine and have an adapter for a 10w panel (no clamps). plug it into the noco as needed otherwise the panel if i need the charger for something else. def direct battery for charge. jumps wherever there's ground

That is NOT correct.
You can jump start a vehicle in that manor but the trucks electrical system must have the negative harness attached to the NEGATIVE terminal. Otherwise, nothing will work. The trucks negative harness has a grounds strap(s) that connect to the chassis and engine throughout the system.

I was looking at the Nocco user manual (see attached) and assumed it was similar to how I did it with my CTEK and German cars - not to the negative but to a stub or frame.

@Cub Driver - you are correct. I called Nocco and for the Genius line of battery tenders, you can do either direct to each terminal or for the negative, you can connect to a grounded part. For jumping, its direct to the terminals.

Just in case you are not aware, Ford has a sensor at the negative anode of the battery. It is recommended if you are charging the battery you should hook it up on the opposite side of anode aka car ground. The sensor is for the computer. If you put it on the battery side it won’t register. You might have to check with the computer gurus on the exact reason. When jumping another car you can go straight to anode.
