It wasnt my idea to begin with, so feel free to continue the plundering.
In case it helps you decide how to do it, here are "my" steps:
1. lift vehicle (use jack stands for safety)
2. remove wheel
3. clean caliper (wire brush and acetone wipe)
4. remove caliper
5. remove pads and pins/guides
6. mask caliper piston(s) and bleed fitting
7. mask rotor (I use a plastic shopping bag)
8. install empty caliper
9. mask caliper bolts and surrounding areas for overspray
10. paint
11. reinstall everything when fully dry (~3hrs after final coat seems to be enough in my experience)
