What's new

Dash Cams

I have not heard that yet. So far in the extreme cold no issues, as for heat I'll get back to you in 6 months haha.

I have the Roav Dashcam C1 Pro in my truck and a Roav in my wife's car also. Never had any problems with them and the pictures are very clear.

I ended up getting a Garmin Mini 2. Mostly because of its size. Fit very well right behind the mirror, zero loss in view.
Hardwired it in this weekend. Working great now. Had some trouble getting the cover on the A-Pillar handle off so I could get that piece of trim removed. After that was solved no big issues.

Also for whatever reason Micro 2 fuse tap things aren't sold in stores that I could find. If you plan ahead and order them you'll save yourself some trouble.

Got my rear mirror USB adapter, pleasantly surprised that it came with 2 styles of shorty USB cables.

I wish I knew that I ordered the cables separately haha

While they are a little spendy, the Black Vue 900 cams are awesome. Ultimately plan to get the dual channel, but a few things in line ahead of it like the bed cover and ceramic coating...

What did you hardwire it to? I have been watching for Dongar adapter to come back in stock but it’s not looking good. I ran the wire up down and around to the 12v but it’s always hot and I don’t like having to unplug it.

fuse panel in the passenger foot well

This is the one I'm looking at also:

Granger said they won't install an aftermarket camera, but the one that Ford offers is just trash in comparison to what's available so I'll get installed here whichever one I get.
I really like this but $400 sitting in the sun all the time….. heat kills electronics. But I like it.

I got the fuse taps. Do you have any tips on removing the A pillar handle trim? Also which fuse slot did you tap into? I’m hoping to use one that is only on when the truck is started if possible. The BCM Fuse Box diagram in the owners manual isn’t super clear on this.

I don’t think you’re the real Trey Anistasio.

The only real hard part is popping the handle thing off without damaging it. After that its just a couple of bolts and then its easy to fish it down. There is a little hole on the bottom of the handle put pick tool in there and it comes off pretty easy. I ended up running and buying these and it went from impossible to easy https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Precision-Hook-and-Pick-Tool-Set-4-Piece-60004H/302435929

As for the fuse- I just looked at the manual for something unimportant and then used a multimeter to verify it was only on when the truck was on. I tapped 03 for the always live connection and 35 for the when the truck is on connection.

Anyone getting a dash cam? I drive a lot and having one in my current car has been great, front and rear.

I did some research on the one that Ford offers and it doesn't seem too great. From what I've read, this is one of the best available right now:

Nextbase 1440p HD Wi-Fi Dash Cam 522GW with Alexa https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PV2RX57/?tag=f150tremor-20

Curious if the dealer (Granger) will install an aftermarket one like this before I pick up the truck? Would I mail it to them? Looking for a clean install without cables showing and hooked directly into the fusebox. What do you guys think?
I have an owl cam. Bought the original at end of 2018. Since I already had it I decided go pay the $15 monthly for the remote 4g viewing at anytime. It doesn’t have a dedicated rear camera but has an interior selfie type that allows you to see the occupants and through the back window at other traffic.
Here are a few pics, pretty clean install.

Looks great!

Not sure if that's the same brand, but I just bought an Owl at work for our conferences. It's awesome.

I went with the nextbase front and rear for my truck, it's been great so far. Only complaint is that it works best with its own brand memory card, and the memory card is a little overpriced. I need to upload the 4k videos I got from the trails!

Yeah man, wanna see those 4k trail videos. These can’t be Miami trails lol.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

Just installed the Garmin Dash Cam mini 2 w/ the Dongar 16-pin Harness. Easy set up and works great. Pics and video are pretty clear. Sometimes I notice a real minor light type glare but only sometimes. I added the Garmin Polarized Lens cover also. I think it may be from my front tint. I have almost like clear 70% ceramic, so I am thinking maybe the tint plus the polarized lens together or just the tint by itself. Still trying to figure it out. Doesn't really affect the view too much and only comes up sometimes so I'll probably just leave it. Still learning and playing around with it a bit. Attached some pics. Ignore the orange band and sensor 😆 . That's there for access to a parking garage.
