What's new

Deer = new ADD bumper

I've purchased the ADD intercooler kit and it's on the way.

Still need to have insurance work with body shop to get the quote more accurate...grill is also busted so now I have to decide between oem and others...but i like the look of our oem tremor grill a lot.

Now I need to figure out if the watts provided to our led fog lights is sufficient for the 10" Baja Designs S8 amber leds I have coming with the new bumper.

Going with the Stealth Fighter bumper with warn evo winch and rigid 40" light bar. Plan on doing the wiring and bumper myself, likely having someone else help with the intercooler.

Really looking forward to see how this comes out

Honestly the intercooler will be super easy to do once you have the bumper and grill off to do the other parts.

What pod lights did you install? The ones you can order with the bumper? Thanks, bumper looks good!
I was looking at getting some Baja's but went with Travelers for now. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet to see if I'll want anything brighter. Not super happy with the brightness of the 13in. Light bar, but it'll do for now and looks good since it's a perfect fit.

We’re you able to keep the skid plate or do remove it? If you removed it would you consider selling?
Skid plate fit just fine. That was one of the main reasons I went with this bumper.

So this happened

My plan is either, replace with the stealth bumper that just has a light or go all the way with the one that has a winch and requires replacing the intercooler.
My decision will be partly driven by what USAA is going to give me to fix it.

OEM bumper will take many months, I'm concerned the grill and fairing below it will also take a while.

The new intercooler comes with the adaptive cruise control relocation bracket and is in stock now.
So I'll likely do that part first, then wait the 12 weeks for the ADD bumper and do that in Nov sometime.

ADD Stealth bumper with winch/light

New intercooler
Is that deer wearing body armor?

So while dealing with insurance it looks like it's not so easy to replace with non oem...which makes the winch decision a bit harder.

I typically overland, stay on dirt roads and my 4x4 is not intense...however I do like to back country snowboard quite a bit.

What say you'all, do I need a winch or no?

For the f150 is basically means 2k for the intercooler, 1k for the winch...wondering if it's worth it.

Also, when mounted in the bumper i lose access to free spool it out, have to basically winch out, not sure if that's a big deal or not.

The only issue of having to winch it out and not using free spool is you are working the winch, which means you should let it cool down some in-between, otherwise you have a greater chance of burning the motor up, which will lead to the winch failing earlier than it should. As long as you give it a chance to cool down your good to go.

Yep. I went ahead and bit the bullet and got the Warn Xeon Platinum 10-S. I figure I was already paying a premium with the intercooler relocation. I will also probably be alone often on the trails, so I just felt it was worth it to me to get this functionality. There is no real access with the hidden winch install. The Xeon Platinum actually has a remote controlled clutch. I would have gotten the 12-S probably if I could have found one. The Xeon Platinum series seems to be on backorder everywhere and no one is even sure of a possible delivery estimate. I finally found a 10-S and I decided to go ahead with it. The 10-S does have 100 feet of line vs 80 feet of line for the 12-S. I figure that the 10-S will be fine especially if I get an additional extension line. I can always double-line winch to increase mechanical advantage.

When I go this route I will do the Badlands Apex, $600, if I were to ever burn it up which most likely I won't I will be able to replace it much sooner and more reasonably. I have had one on my UTV for 5 yrs, even pulled it up into a tree trying get a grapevine lose that had broken and was hanging into the driveway.

Yeah. I considered the Badlands Apex. I just had some concerns because the reviews are a mixed bag and only having a 90-day warranty. If I were just going to run it occasionally I might have gone that route. I will be on the road soon traveling nearly full-time and I plan on exploring many remote areas most likely alone. Hopefully, I do not need to use it too much. I guess kinda like an insurance policy. I am paying for a little more peace of mind hoping the Warn will be durable, and reliable when needed. The warranty is substantially better and I am more confident that parts will be available for simple break/fixes if needed. The remote controlled clutch also being a key feature that I am not sure is even found on any other winch.

I think so.

But honestly if you're predominantly on dirt roads just drive within your rig's limits and don't take chances that you would if you had a winch.
It's similar to me and rock sliders. I don't have them yet so I don't use rocks to trun and stay on wider trails.

In reply to the rock sliders, I'm trying to work on that but life and work keeps it from happening as quick as I would like.

Yup. Just thought I would drop that reminder, somewhere.:ROFLMAO:

The last time I had to deal with insurance they gave me the option of taking it to the shop they would work with, or just cutting a check for what they quoted. Figured it would be the same with this. Also, the DV8 bumper with winch mount does not require relocating the intercooler and also give you access to freespool the winch line.
