Great just ordered C1R + Brake 402a but they are on 3-5 week back order. Hope that
Is because they are fixing the harness issue.

Update from earlier just installed on my 21 402a with all the towing tech and no error messages at all. For a 5min test, I am very happy with it so far. Also happy to not have any error messages. As a side note, a few videos noted that the DD pnp harness did not actually click into place. Mine certainly did click into place leading me to wonder if a loose connection might cause the error messages. If I get a chance I'll mess with it a bit and see but for now, it works great.
Just for data collection only the C1, no brake function, but the marker light works as stated as well.

I purchased it from Offroad Alliance and when I reached out they responded saying they will contact DD to get a new harness for me, but they are aware and believe it has been resolved; we will see.

I sent them a message to if they are on back order to allow them to catch up on the harness before they ship so they ship with no issues. Keep you posted on what they say. Respectable company so I have faith!

It is just a simple 7 pin male/female harness that connects between the vehicles wiring harness and the back of the trailer connection with a deutsch connectorfor the actual light. Mine is the C1R which allows extra functions like brake lighting, so it has an extra black box and purple wire (top pic). But the other, which is just the reverse light, does not have that box (bottom pic).

interesting. I bought this harness off of amazon for my tailgate lightbar(does running light, brake light, turn signals, and reverse light) and it seems to work ok with no errors. i still need to drive around with it to make sure but no errors while in the driveway. i have a 2021 402 A with tow package.i will say, as i was first testing, i hadn't plugged the harness back into the bumper and i did get all the trailer errors, but once i plugged it into the bumper, i didn't get them again.

Others had mentioned that as well, but I think it is something to do with their harness specifically. I can say with 100% certainty that my harness is plugged in completely.

Make sure you have the right harness under the truck, some have been sent with only two wires running to the trailer hook up, also make sure it is plugged in to under there as well, some aren't plugged in properly.

I love the light/kit itself and will 100% wait for the new harness. I spoke to diode and they put in a warranty claim for me, which I can confirm as I have the confirmation email and claim number. But basically it just makes sure when they have the harness I get one. Unfortunately, for now I took the kit off the truck. The quick flashing turn signals and non stop warning beeps were too much for me.

Based on the feedback, if you order the version without the brake light action, it works fine (mine included on a 2021 402A). If you want the braking you'll be in the group waiting for a different harness. Baja Designs has a version also which is brighter, doesn't have the backlight but offers a harness for the upfitter switch as well which would be nice. Likely that one works fine as well since it's not interacting with the braking circuit.

Literally just got this a few seconds ago. I have no idea if this is actually a newly designed and shipped harness or them just furthering the warranty claim...but we will see. It certainly looks promising, I could also just be being too optimistic.

Actually yes. I have been on a business trip so I apologize for not updating. Basically what happened was they sent me the harness for the other light, the one not containing the reverse light function. So, for now, I have the break light and back-lit function. When the new harness comes out they will send me that one too, but it is still in development.

No update as of yet. They sent me a temp harness that allows the light to work, except the brake function, and are still developing another. They say they will send the new one asap. Still just waiting.

Just updating this thread in case anyone needs the info. It looks like the harness is done but they are having supply chain issues. September 8th is the estimated ship date.

To clarify, my understanding from emailing DD is that the issues occur with the combination of:
C1R
+
Tow Technology on the truck

The “R” has the feature of blinking upon braking.

If you didn’t get the R, you should be fine. If you got the R, you can:
- have errors
- get a harness that basically makes it a running light + reverse light. No braking, no blinking when braking.
- wait for new harness to fix errors and make it work as intended.
