F150 Order Banks Closing RUMOR

Saw this on the GEn14 forums, as well as a few other places. One person was kind enough to include a screen shot of an email from his dealer. The RUMOR is that Ford will not be taking orders for 22 f150's starting in the next week or so. Has anyone heard anything about this? IF it is true, what are your thoughts?

I ordered my Tremor two weeks ago and was told yesterday by the dealer, I was lucky as they are closing all f150 orders as of may 13th 2022.

We cant order fleet police explorers until 2023 and its been that way since February. We also cant place any f150 orders until 2024. Idk if that is all fleet or just Police. I just piced up my Tremor this weekend that i ordered Dec 4th. Took 153 days.

Well, my Tremor's been on order for 3 months and I'm realistic about receiving it sometime in the "future." If true, I think it might be a good idea because it would seem they can't build the ones already in the que. So, why backload too much and disappoint more buyers who already have to wait in an extraordinarily long line.

It's confirmed. MY22 order books close 5/13.

So they've got two months to unveil the 2023 changes. Assuming their marketing team is working on figuring out how to sell less features at higher costs and make it seem like it's worth the value.

My price is locked in for 2022 and I believe my dealer said if it gets converted to a 2023, I'm protected at no more than a 50% increase.

Didn't require a deposit so it's not a huge deal if I have to bail out completely.

Wonder if they'll introduce any wild new colors for 2023...

No matter how long it takes they better honor my final price or I'll raise hell.

I think that would be just first responder vehicles. Havent heard that we cant order fleet vehicles until 2024. All manufacturers did close fleet orders earlier than they closed retail orders for '22 models. We order 46 Rams back in July of '21 and still dont even know if they will get built (my money is on no).

By "raise hell" do you mean accept the order or walk away and they sell it to someone else for more money? Because those will be your options.

I was going to bypass that anyways with a jumper wire on the back of the switch because I hate that "feature" so bad, so when I ordered and I could get $50 off for eliminating it that was a no brainer.

True except, that trade off is my dealer told me that in the "before days" it took no longer than 8 weeks to have an order shipped to them. Now? who knows how long we wait for the privilege of paying $70K for a truck of our choice. We live in unprecedented times but it sure sucks when you have the money, finally decide to actually buy something so expensive and you have to wait an indeterminant amount of time. If I had a basic timeline I'd be more satisfied although, I've honestly just put it out of my mind for now because like most things in life right now...I can't do a damn thing about it.

I would walk. I really want this truck but I have a friends/family discount because my son owns a repair shop and buys more Ford parts than any dealers in our local area. So, I'd walk, I'm old enough to stand on principals and there will be other opportunities. oh, and $70K was with tax and everything with the highest package. Only thing it won't come with is the pano-sunroof if I ever get the privilege of purchasing said truck.

I cant imagine being a dealer right now. I'm pretty close with a sales guy at a local Ford, he said trying to explain to customers why they're spending more money for a vehicle with fewer options is starting to make his hair fall out.

Not to mention, dealers aren't making any money until our trucks are delivered. So, bare lots are taking their toll too.

Well you should be price protected if you have a firm order, so hopefully it doesn't come to that. My MSRP will be about $73k and I will pay $61,700 so I'm right there with you about holding on to my deal!
