Flowmaster FlowFX?

After I took that photo I realized that on the original muffler the damper was mounted in the opposite direction. I doubt it matters functionally but if I decide to permanently weld it in place I will flip it around so the metal bracket is on the front. My guess is they did it that way originally to protect the rubber from road debris.

Any more videos?

The in-car videos I have so far are a little too self-incriminating if you know what I mean and it's snowing like you know what right now. Maybe in a day or two when the roads clear up. That could be March by the sounds of the weather reports.

Speaking of videos I had to make a grocery run today and made a couple of videos along the way. I'm hesitant to post any of them however since you can see both my speedometer and the speed limit signs along the highway.

The only time I could hear any real droning sounds was on acceleration and while climbing a grade. At normal cruising speed in top gear it is no louder nor any more annoying than the stock system. As a matter of fact, at cruising speeds the General Grabber X3s make more noise than the exhaust does.

Does anyone know what the purpose is of that rubber damper looking thing in front of the stock muffler? I'm tempted to cut it off and clamp it to the inlet side of the Flowmaster muffler...
I think you can upload to YouTube and make it private where only people with the direct link can view it?

Sounds like a winner from your description.

How is the volume compared to stock on cold start? And when you get on it?

Oh it's definitely louder than stock but in a good way IMO. It's not obnoxious but you definitely know it is not the stock exhaust either. This time of year I usually fire it up before opening the garage door and that's when I notice the biggest difference but that's only because the sound is bouncing off the door.

But, hey, what's the point of having the V8 if you can't hear the darn thing? ;)

Here are two videos from a few days ago. The roads were obviously wet but not icy. As I've said before, unless you're really pushing it, the tires make more noise than the exhaust. The truck also has a Roush CAI and that makes its own contribution to the in-cab noise level. The first is on an uphill section of highway and probably in 8th gear. I guess you could call that a good test of the level of drone. The second is more to demonstrate the noise level under heavy acceleration for a short distance on a flat stretch of highway. BTW, these were also made before I added the rubber damper on the muffler.

Two more videos. These were taken on my property. Just some low speed woods road driving. Very mellow sound IMO.

Stop stop!! I need to quit spending money!!

But this is the cheapest alternative at less than $400. Sorry. ;) :D
That’s equivalent to just a few tanks of gas 😂
No brainer

OK, so I was bored. Probably just my imagination but it does seem to be a little quieter with this thing on there.

I have a 2024 and it's just before the tail pipe end out the back and it's welded on, I don't think it has anything to do with sound. But that's me !!

Found this thread after posting my experience in the "what did you do today" thread. Installed the F/X muffler and found a huge improvement by taking the vibration damper from the stock muffler and clamping to the FlowMaster as well. Anyone doing this muffler swap should do the same, makes a noticeable difference to the cylinder de-activation sound on the 5.0.
