Halo Lifts Reviews

what tire pressures have you experimented with on the stock Generals?
For everyday driving, I’m running 38 psi Front and 33 psi Rear cold. When I’m fully loaded with the family and pop-up, I’ll bump the rear to 38 psi to match the front.

I set them using my crusher fine driveway as the “chalk” method. Any higher and it definitely feels too firm. On the front at 35psi per the door sticker, it does soften up the ride but it gives too much tire bulge IMO. In the rear at 35 psi, I find it way too firm and the entire outer tread block doesn’t touch the ground (unloaded). I’ve gone to 31, but couldn’t see much of a difference and wouldn’t want to go lower on the road, so I settled at 33. Not sure if a coincidence, but at 38 psi (loaded), it feels good and looks good using my chalk method. I’ve had great even wear so far with 30k miles and hoping to get 45k out of these generals.

I'm tagging along for the ride I'm in a similar situation myself with the readylift puck/ heavy tires.
Update! Installed and riding on them a while now. So, quick notes here. I received them, installed and truck was far from level. Had to crank up pre load a fair amount to get it close to level. Cranked up all the way and then backed off until truck started to drop so I was right on the edge of maxxed out. Truck drove really, really good compared to puck style on stock suspension with heavy tires. Life was good. Not great but good. I get a note from Elka who builds these for Halo Lifts. They made a mistake and they were too short. They send me replacements that are revised and longer to obtain proper lift without going nuts on pre load. I decide since I’m doing the job again to go with the SPC arms while I’m at it this time. Installed and holy smokes, it’s unbelievable smooth and controlled and comfortable. Can’t even explain it to you. Now out of the box I’m about an inch lower in front than out back. I could easily adjust to be perfectly level. Probably could even go higher in the front than the rear. However, the ride quality is so good right now that extra inch of pre load isn’t worth it to me. Would it ride bad? Heck no it would be fantastic still but it’s so dialed in right now I’m calling it good. Plus if I want to change my mind later I can crank them up without even removing a tire. It’s so easy. Figured I’d update you. If you’re on the fence. Do it. You won’t regret it. The build quality is also unreal. Makes icons, kings and the like look stupid. Plus…aluminum. Will not rust and better heat dissipation. Anyways, I just noticed you’re from Kamloops. I’m in Salmon Arm. If you ever want, come on over and I’ll take you for a drive. I think if you drove it, you’d have to order a set on our drive back to your truck.

Cheers brother.

Hello fellow Canadian 👋🏼
May I ask where you ordered the HaloLifts kit from? I’m currently debating on the HaloLifts Stage 1 with or without the UCAs. Could you let us know how it goes? Thanks.

Have you had Icons and Kings in the past?

@Peltch92 did you happen to measure the uninstalled length of each strut?

I did not, however I still have the original set they had sent that were too short. I’ll measure them and add 1 inch. I know the revised version I have now is 1 inch longer. I’ll report back.

Do you need the measurements? My front Elka DC's are still sitting in their boxes since my truck is still at the body shop. These are the revised ones as Halo Lifts originally sold me the wrong ones, but luckily I hadn't installed them yet so Elka swapped them out.

FYI...they are 550# spring rate and the 8 threads they come at gets you about 1.5" of lift from stock. I'm probably going to up mine 2 more turns each to get at 1.75". May even go 3 turns on the driver side to offset driver/gas tank weight. But a lot of this is covered on another thread here by someone that just installed his as well.

Yes, I would like to see what they measure from the top to the bar pin. Thanks

So from the middle of the top bolt that goes thru the middle of the top eye, to the bottom pin (center) is 22 7/8".

which version of the halo coilovers are you using? They are local to me, considering going this route and still want at least 1" of rake

2.0s. You will have plenty of rake if you leave them set how they come out of the box and also the ride quality will be amazing.

Ok just to update my post on the Halolift stage 1 package for my 23 f150 tremor. The ride with the new front coil and rear shocks is great. They have a firm feel but not caring at all the truck feels planted, it no longer has a mushy boat like feel. I absolutely love ride over the stock suspension, only thing I would improve is to somehow get the rear leaf springs stiffer. I will be trying the RAS suspension set to the lower to help with that and see how that helps.

I had Halolifts install the Stage 2 Tremor kit on Friday. I asked them to set it at an 1" to 1.5". Measuring from the ground to the bottom edge of the fender (which I know is not the best way but it's easier) shows a little less than a 2" rake.

How long did you wait for the parts?

So...this happened today on the freeway of all places. It was the 91fwy, but still. No way this should have happened. CO's are about 2 years old with 35k on them. Ironically, I scheduled to have the CO's rebuilt next week. I decided to rip it all out, and went with Icon CO's and UCA instead.

Did the bottom cap unscrew or completely break free? Those the 2.0 or 2.5 inch bodies? I had Icons in a 4runner and one of the coil springs broke on me.

@caslim @zimm @halo.f150 - The way a proper engineering & manufacturing company wouod approach this type of catastrophic failure event is Root Cause Analysis - We the people demand this from Elka! If you want a consultant to help manage the process and manufacturer, I’d be happy to help, as I have a vested interest in the outcome running Halos myself and not wanting to break.

I hope caslim shows this to halolifts. I'm pretty sure Elka makes the units.
