So there’s lots of variables when it comes to tire longevity and one of the most important is location.
Yes, a fellow on AZ is going to get more life than a guy in CN because he can wear out the siping and not have traction issues.
Another variable is the tire compound and sidewall layers. A lot of folks like the LT 6-10 ply tires for off roading but they’re made for hauling loads and will be a harder compound with stiff ride and less wet traction.
Being in the PNW I look for siping depth. A lot of tires like the grabbers have half depth siping on their lugs, so once they get to their half life of 8-10/32’s they loose traction significantly. This is due to the siping loss.

I ran 20k on these tires and although they weren’t as surefooted as my beloved Toyos, the lug loss was minimal. If you want longevity out of a tire in inclimate weather you want siping. Once that siping is down there, less flexibility in the lugs and more slippage. I’m new to these Grabbers and have 30k on them but just got it and the ride is fine.
