Wow, this shop really $&!?@‘# sucks!
Dropped of my Tremor at 9:00 am as that was my appt time. Left it with manager dude, reviewed with installer in addition to sales guy that originally set me up weeks before. They all said all along it will be ready later this afternoon.
They didn’t get my car into their garage to begin work till 12:45. I know this because I have an Owl cam and I can remote in to both exterior and interior view cameras see where car is at any time.
So I called at noon and they told me at that time it was already being worked on which was a lie. Then he reconfirmed that the install would be complete by end of the day and before they close at 6. So I hadn’t heard from them all afternoon and get dropped off and walk in their door at 5:55. I see the manager dude who I saw at 9:00 when I dropped off and say I’m here to get my truck and he looks down at his feet, then the sales guy who wrote my estimate 3 weeks earlier says, oh man it’s not ready, he’s still toning some lines and it’s all taken apart. Then the manager guy says did you call him and he says no, neither one of them say sorry we wasted your time and should of called you to give me a heads up in advance . Then the sales guy says I’m having him add some sound deafening for you. I then say why didn’t you keep me informed and call me in advance so I can save the 20 minute ride getting dropped off and make other arrangements? They say he’s still working on it. At this point I feel like I’m talking to one of my kids when they do brain dead 💩 and felt like saying “ what does that have to do with you not calling me you @&$!@#% idiot. You have my name, address, phone, credit card etc. use that info to communicate with your customers. Basic common sense customer service.
So I’m stuck with no transportation and I need to get to a business dinner 25 minutes away followed by getting to my house after the dinner another 40 minutes away then having to get to work the next morning 35 minutes away then another 20 minute trip tomorrow to hopefully get my truck all without my transportation. I can deal with setbacks, they happen everyday but have some basic common sense customer service skills and communicate with your customers.
I’ll update tomorrow, but I’m not feeling good about it at all. I could see these assholes trying to charge me more for labor for their procrastination and inconveniencing me, I really hope that’s not the case. The one thing I was very particular about was that the install the remote bass knob exactly as seen in the pic. I told she showed the manager, the sales guy and even had the installer follow me out to my truck to see exactly where bass knob is to go and they all confirmed it would be installed there.
To be continued……
Man that sucks. Ya that is a tough spot to be in. I know when a friend of mine's shop did my install they ran into some unforeseen issues but they always kept my informed. He has over 20+ years of experience and does top notch work but sometimes things do come up. My system was supposed to only take a day to install but ended up taking about 1 & 1/2 days plus I went back 1-2 times more to get things right. He had me just pick up my truck after each day. Brand new amp didn't work initially. Switched to another brand and model. Ended up getting that buzzing sound after the install but he did whatever it took to get it right and no extra charge even as he added 1 more component. I am really happy how the system came out. I have no problems with it. The one thing I always did was not rush him. Told him take your time. I rather you take your time and get things right than rush just to please me and have issues down the line.
For your case I know it is tough. Especially with transportation. Their customer service sounds like garbage and you have every right to expect a lot more as a customer. That being said, I wouldn't rush them too much and put a lot of pressure on them even though you have every right too. At this point I would just want them to do a good job and not have to deal with any problems down the line and have to go back to see them again lol. I have known some shops when rushed and pressure be put on them, do a shitty half ass job. Not saying they would do that but you get how some people are. Hope your system comes out good and you are happy with it.

Man, that's terrible. If I had seen your post sooner to add the sub, I would've recommended Ardenaline Audio in Clayton. I've had a few vehicles upgraded there, most recently a 2020 Mustang. The owner, Dave is a class act and not only really knows his stuff, but is also an exceptional installer. I've been happy with everything he's installed for me. Sounds like it may be too late for the Tremor, but I would suggest contacting them going forward. I'm probably going to upgrade the sub in my "21" Tremor too, the Unleashed system isn't bad, but certainly lacks on the bass.

So I was told yesterday they had already added sound dampening and were toning out lines. It turns out this morning they call me and tell me the box they previously test fitted 3+ weeks ago isn’t going to fit. So since it was discovered today that the box didn’t fit I know they weren't toning any lines yesterday. I told them of this box that I know fits from stereochick.com write-up. So I have them go to the webpage as I’m speaking to the manager over the phone and he confirms that the box will fit so we then agree to order that box and he tells me that they will finish up the install today so all we have to do is install the box w sub and the wires will already be ran and ready to go. So I was ok with that plan then an hour and half later he calls me and says it’s all ready to be picked up. So I go to pick it up and it’s pulled up front left unlocked so before I go inside the shop I look in my truck back behind the rear seat where they did all wiring and my amp would be and I don’t see any wiring and my amp is on the back seat floor loose just like I left it on Monday morning. I then look for the bass knob and it’s also not installed. I then walk in the shop and speak to the manager and he tells me that everything was done so it’s ready to go once the box here’s there. I then tell him my amp wasn’t wired and the bass knob wasn’t installed and he walks out there to confirm just that which he does. He then says we’ll we’re not gonna charge you anything until we get the box to install. Well they already charged me $100 deposit at time I made the appt and hadn’t done anything for me except inconvenience and lie to me which costs me $87 in Uber charges, a lot of aggravation and favors for people to run me around.
So with that being said I’m ready to give Clayton a shot. I would like to go by there tomorrow if they are available. I think I’ll give Dave a call now Should I mention you by name? ( thank you for suggesting 👍)

All good advice, I’ve been super patient and willing to work thru the what happened yesterday but once again today they left me hanging and wasted my time and $. You can read my reply about today on the last reply. I’m definitely not going back to them.

I dont know how much good it would do, lol. But yeah, mention Brian. The last car he did for me was a 2020 Velocity Blue mustang. He integrated a JL Audio sub and installed a remote bass knob. I'd definitely recommend stopping by so he can see the application and make some recommendations.

I spoke to either a Brian or Dave either way it was a great conversation and I’m going to see him tomorrow, thanks for the referral.

Are you trying to fit the box behind the rear seats? That enclosure wont work, but you can purchase seat brackets from LMI welding that should give you more clearance to make it work.

Is there noise cancellation in the tremor we have to deactivate to install sub?

I had to deactivate it in my Ram and it was a pain.

Looking to upgrade door speakers, and drop a small powered sub behind rear seat using speaker level inputs, something like the Kicker Hideaway. So, basically, stay in about the $500 range, and something big dummy can do in the garage. Saw a reviewer on Amazon mentioning ubiquitous sub harness behind F150 seats, whether truck gets an OEM sub installed or not, and FORScan activation of harness, instead of tapping rear speaker wires. I can pull the carseats tomorrow and look, but does anyone know offhand if the non-B&O stereo has a sub harness already present?

Appreciate all the posts on this thread!

In addition to above (pre-wiring for sub), would love to hear some suggestions on door speakers. Glancing through the mesh grills with a flashlight, looks like 6x8 front and 6.5 rear?
