M/T Baja Boss A/T 295/70 R18 no lift?

Hey OP, completely stock no lift, level, or removing rear blocks. Have used the truck with these tires (295/70r/18 KO3) to haul a 300lb motorcycle on what I’d consider fairly challenging terrain requiring high clearance 4wd and the tires performed fantastic, no rub. I would check the Baja Boss actual dimensions on the discount tire website to see if it aligns with the KO3, if it does on the diameter within .1-.2 you’ll be completely fine. Just as an FYI, I had them put on the 285/75r/18’s, KO3’s, and they did fit but had less than half a finger width of clearance to the crash bar and I’m using this truck multiple times per year to haul motorcycles to Big Bend State Ranch in Texas so I did not feel comfortable. However, someone here may say that size runs fine! If you have any questions or want any specific pictures of my setup I’m happy to send. Baja Boss are amazing tires from what I hear!

Can you post some pics from the front and back which shows how much / little they stick out beyond the fenders?

Hi PNWTremor!

Offset is +18 and 35 x12.5 tire on the MR317 wheels. 2.5" (ish) lift... which came from Halo Lifts set at 2.5" but I adjusted to closer to 3", possibly, because of a bit of rub after the last alignment. These are also D load, which I don't like as much, but they've worked just fine so far, even heavily laden.

When properly aligned, these didn't rub at all. Right now the alignment is off (Firestone aligned it worse the second time and then I took it wheeling, which didn't help, but it didn't really rub much at all when wheeling) and now it rubs only when turned all the way and compressed, BUT, just a little bit on the edge of the wheel well liner. It doesn't touch the crash bars or anything else.

I need another alignment and we'll see how it goes at that point, but it didn't rub initially and I don't expect that it will again, if properly aligned (the alignment guys weren't familiar with the SPC upper control arms and how to properly set them, so I need to bring them the factory instructions for the next alignment. Not saying they don't know what they're doing or anything, but this isn't something that they're really used to, so I understand. The first alignment was done by a Ford master tech, so I think he was more aware of offroad setups.)

I think you're right that a 35 with +0 would rub, especially with chains, unless you increase the lift some? (Just as an aside, I do like Halo's Elka 2.5" coilovers and rear shocks, though I may need to upgrade them to a higher stage at some point just for some additional performance. For right now, they're just fine.)

I haven't actually tried putting this in a garage yet, but I don't think it'll fit in my garage. I should measure that, actually...
Good coms. Thats so weird, dimensionally those look like a 34, not a 35 just by the picture (I understand a 35x12.5 is not 35”, but you can tell if someone has a 35 on their rig).

Also 3” is a lot. I have Bilstein 6112s in the front set at +1” (in strut) then a 1” spacer(out of strut). This lets me keep suspension travel. I also have 5160s in the rear. So far I’m happy. Stock Upper control arms. I’m not going to do anything else with my suspension until I move to long/mid travel, this opens up a bunch of doors for suspension.

I’ll have to see about selling these wheels at some point so I can get 35s. I guess it looks alright, but I think I could benefit from the extra .25” of clearance

It looks great!

3" is a lot, but I never really measured the stock configuration height versus the initial lifted configuration, so it's hard to say if it's exactly 3". After that second alignment when it started to rub, I adjusted in approximately an extra half inch of lift to see if it would avoid the rubbing. I think it improved it a bit, but after I get it re-aligned, then I'll probably drop it back down to the 2.5". It doesn't have too much of a Carolina squat or anything, but it was more important to have less destruction due to rubbing than perfect ride height.

Bilstein's are excellent. Sounds like a good setup!

I have 295/70/R18 running Falken AT4 Wildpeaks, 0 rub. All stock, no lift, only dropped the rear with FX4 blocks.
I'm strongly considering the same tire/size when it's time to upgrade, but I'm worried the extra width will stick out a bit too much on the sides (seriously not a fan of any poke). Any input on how much the extra width over the stock tires look? I'd also be interested to hear if you've gone off roading with the larger tire and stock suspension.

Honestly if anyone has input on 34" tires with a similar width to stock that are 3PMS rated, I'd love to hear it, but I'm not sure that actually exists as a tire size.

I just installed Baja AT's today in 295/70R18. They're awesome! They look great, ride great, and are super quiet. I am running a 2.5" level on the front.
I was worried about the extra weight on these, but I can't tell much of a difference in driving at all.

Nice! 295 is a good size on an 18” wheel. 34.5” diameter and a narrow track width is perfect.

I have the 295 on a 17, it’s small lol (33.7”x12.1). I need to figure out what I’m going to do with my tires. I don’t like the trade offs I made over stock. Not seeing hardly any benefit.

I wish there were more tire sizes for the Baja boss, a 305 on a 17 would be great.

Are you on aftermarket 17's? If they're 8.5" or wider, just go 35x12.50. I wanted to keep the stock wheels (7.5") so 295/70 is as wide as I can go (approved).

The tremor is only sold with 18s, so yeah, a 17 would be after market, maybe I don’t understand your question.

I can’t fit a 35x12.5 on my truck with my 2” level (scared of CV angles) and I wouldn’t be able to park it in my garage anymore OR run snow chains without rubbing badly. Then there’s the problem of my Royal f*ck up buying the wrong offset (+0) versus the (+18) in the MR703.

I guess my truck will forever skip leg day until I can afford a full size shop with a 12’ garage door 😂.

TLDR; 35s look cool but I don’t see the benefit. Gas, premature transmission wear and stress, power loss etc all HUGE cons.

Mileage hit?
Don't know yet. I only drove the 20 miles home. I'm still dailing in the speedo with Forscan. I'll report back after a week of driving.

I got the speedo dialed in perfectly matching the GPS on my Waze app. So far with 1/2 tank, I've dropped from 16.5 to 14.8-ish with the same kind of driving. So about a 1.5mpg hit. I'm not sure if that'll get better if the truck's engine and trans "learns" as the miles go on. Truck is noticeably slower off the line, but man it looks sooo good.

How do you modify the speedometer? I may need to do this as well.

Forscan software and a compatible OBD2 reader. Then you can reprogram the tire circumference along with a bunch of other stuff. There's a whole forum dedicated to forscan and a google document that's always updated with the info.

Oh, okay. After I asked that I thought about Forscan... need to get that. Thanks!
