What's new

New F150 Tremor owner

Yeah, I know every inch of every item in my gear and literally use my spreadsheets to keep it all together. I have no doubt my trucks can handle what I want to use them for, safely but my primary focus is liability. Lol, my ego no longer writes checks I can't cash.

I can sympathize — 6’2” monster myself.
Lol, my 6'6" size is a-whole-nother rant about how sun roofs reduce head room by 2 inches.

Open moonroof and wear goggles.

I do that with my corvair but I don't need to crank my neck over with that.

There is always the F250 Super Duty Platnium with Tremor Package — $$$$

yup. I was/am really close to doing the F350 Lariat/ultimate/black/big payload. When I mentioned it would be an additional $25K to get the $80K truck where I wanted it, she said things I'm still looking up in Websters.

That said, I'm not the one concerned with 1600# payload. That is exactly what I need.

The first 2 page thread. . . about Payload!

I do have some fundamental issues that Capabilty>>>>>Legal Capacity for payload. The manufacturers of all trucks have been jacking up towing capacity but payload has not really increased at the same pace. Is it just a GVWR issue of too low rating with the pick ups getting heavier due to options?

2012 F150 SC 4x4 EB Tow: 11,200 Payload 1,900
2021 F150 SC 4x4 EB Tow: 13,800 Payload 1,721

I also know that its a hope and prayer until you actual get the truck with the yellow sticker on the side. I've researched enough to see exact trucks have different payloads when checking out Super Duty forum. It seems towing capacity is a little whimsical of a number and payload is GVWR issue.

Ford trucks have gotten lighter with aluminum but heavier with options. towing increase is mainly suspension and braking over the last decade. For has stopped sourcing those disks that are soft as puppy mud.

I don't disagree about capability but logic has no place in legal

New F150 Tremor owner — guess I missed the run up. Former ride was the 2019 F150 Limited. I wanted a Raptor but found the truck to be super focused and lacking some utility I needed. I’m hoping the Tremor brings that perfect blend. I went to PA yesterday and bought the only one in actual stock at a dealer I could find within 100 miles— fully loaded Lead Foot. Best surprise is the antenna didn’t hit the garage door pulling in — clearance was close.

So what are your plans for this beauty?

Yeti, my confusion is legal for towing and legal for payload are the same concept right? Someone determines that capability. Its all basic math. Curb weight -> GVWR -> GCWR. Am I to understand that curb weight has stayed the same (relative), GVWR has stayed the same (relative) and GCWR has gone up 2-4K in 10 years?

My gut tells me that manufactures want to pump up towing capacity ratings for sales so keeping GVWR lower helps that?

Side note: After a little digging, I believe that Curb Weight of a truck includes fluids and full tank of gas. Those of us adding that 226# in need not. Yeti, that info should be better than a diet regime! How else can you drop more than 2 bills quickly!

Divorce. 150# for the wife and 75# date weight

So far — I ordered floor mats. Getting the bed sprayed in a few weeks.

I’m researching, and looking at options. The leveling seems to be best with a Fox coil over strut set. If you go that far, maybe jump up to 35’s? Garage is a factor too — I want to park inside.

I was wondering if there will be any graphics decals like the raptor series has? Ford Active Orange with black would be interesting.

hmmmmm…

Add Tracker Deep V fishing boat?

Do a search for Ram power wagon or rebel payload and towing numbers. My rebel has 1111 payload but can "tow" 11,400. Which of course is BS.
Gvwr is max safe weight, curb weight is simply the weight of the truck at the time it is weighed. Gcvwr is the vehicle and what can be safely towed for a given vehicle. Payload, brakes and suspension (chassis is a given) along with that simple statement is a SAE standard and a lot of specific requirements per manufacturer. They all play games with the numbers but ford is at least reasonable in their ratings

Sounds fun do you have the extra 3 inches in the garage?
I'm going to make the bed liner decision after I get the truck. No idea which to go with, though.

Hmm black wrap with active orange stripe the length of the truck? Graboid lives matter? The thin active orange line?

Make sure the new boat has that same stripe

I have a tandem garage, so the truck works pretty well — keeping tight with the wall leaves a wide center to move the mower, garbage cans, and other stuff in and out. The worry is more height, I have a ~7’ entry.

Yeah, that's where I was going with it. When you pull the truck in, do you have 3 inches of height between the tallest part (antenna?) and the garage door. 35s will add an inch of height and and a "2 inch" lift will ultimately additionally add just under 2 inches at the cab.

It’s not exactly precise, but I did pull back the moonroof and feel the garage top as I entered. I had about 3 or 4 inches I think — keep in mind there are some rear nubby antennas on the truck too.

There is already a lift on the Tremor from what I understand — about 2” I believe. Will 35s fit with just leveling the truck? There is more than enough room in the rear.

I will measure from the rear antennas to the top of the garage later this week.

Man that's a great looking truck. Specs say it's 79.3 in in stock form. I'm guessing the antenna is slightly taller than that but add 3 inches and you're still under 7'. I still haven't found anywhere where they state the offset of those wheels or if it's the same as stock. I'll be measuring everything when I get to the dealership, Friday and will post them up.
