What's new

Overlander

Thanks!
And Yessur I will fill it.
I knew I wanted the XL pod, and the shower but I wants sure about any other items.
I'm still thinking on what I need to fill the rest of the space.
I think Ill add the universal mounts and hang gear.. but I might add two more pods instead.
I'm gonna use it a bit and let the needs dictate the direction.
I like your thinking, it looks great and I really like the storage pod. I look forward to hearing how you like using it and build it up over time.

Hey Fozzy.

I personally like the gear pods look but the shower seems a little funky. But even if I didn't, the function rules the day with me.
Thanks for the reply, I have a full roof rack system on my Expy and its so noisy. I don't really overland across the country. More the weekend warrior and the room that bin adds is unreal. Plus I love putting things in bags. I am already set on the Retrax powered bed cover. When and if I ever get shipping confirmation on my truck I may pull the trigger on the large box for the drivers side. With Maxtrax mount for the back of the large pod. Two single pods for the passenger side and the shower. Add 3-4 bags and I would be set. Put my awning and solar panels on top. The only good thing coming from the wait for my truck is I still have money in the bank.

Ouch, priced out the Leitner rack with all the things I want, plus add the price of the Powertrax cover puts you over $7K !!! That gets you in the GFC range that has the tent. So many choices.

Yeah man. The Leitner is not the most cost effective choice. But oh boy it's nice. Having just rolled back into town after a trip up to the mountains I can report that this rack is definitely quality. Took it offroad and on the highway, had it in the snow and the sun and it works and looks awesome. The price point is a little intimidating I agree. But if you can make the stretch I think its a great platform to build off of.

Not for me but an interesting option.

I don't disagree. If my leitner for me rebel fit my Tremor well, I would stick with it. They are definitely solid. But the idea of buying another made me think about the RSI which pushed me to considering the GFC

Yeah, buying two of these doesn't sound like a good time to me either.
Damn, I need to hit that lotto.

We’re slowly doing the same. Added an ikamper 3.0 to the bed with a medium rack making it the same height as the cab. Haven’t lost any gas mileage and no wind noise.

I am going with something like this with my rsi

Thought I'd post my setup for overlanding. I've been running this setup on my last few f150s and it's been great. Only downside I notice is the stock tires are so soft and squishy compared to past setups.

I went back and forth on a RTT but ended up getting a Gazelle t4 hub tent and a softopper. Really like the idea of only having the topper on when needed. Though I’m now looking for an excuse to get a bed rack and roof rack😂 it never stops……

It's a disability, I also suffer from it lol.

What bed rack did you go with?

I will be pulling the trigger on a rack soon and as much as I like the concept of the Leitner Designs option I keep going back to Putco Venture Rack. Is anyone familiar with this rack/brand that can provide input on quality or usability?

I don't have either but what stopped me from getting a fixed height rack was the ability to set my rack higher in the summer while using the tent and lower it for the winter to reduce drag. I was looking at upgrading to the Yakima Overhaul HD as it's adjustable and more modular for accessories.

Putco I would say is slightly higher than mid to mid height however is high enough for a RTT and will provide enough clearance for camping gear and the tandem fishing yak in the bed. Thanks for the input.

I had to ensure that with my stock tremor the tent was high enough to walk under when opened up.

Finally added my Putco Venture Tec rack with a few panels. I am currently waiting on my aluminum Hard shell RTT and a few more things for the panels. The rack is quality and very sturdy with 1000 lbs static, 600 lbs dynamic, and 300 lbs off road.
