Rear Brake Assist Not Available

Do not start the truck with the tailgate disconnected! Nothing wrong with it being disconnected as long as the truck isn’t started and or driven till it is re-connected. I think I saw that info on another thread on this site or another F150 site.

Not true mine was reconnected before it was started and driven, but after a couple of days mine reset itself, I had the dealer verify when it was being serviced and the recall done. It's just a quick calibration and they said it happens anytime you remove the tailgate etc. Usually it will correct itself,if not it takes them about 15-20 mins to do the recalibration. Under warranty should be free.

I stand corrected.

I stand corrected.
I wasn't trying to sound offensive and sorry if I did, I had heard the same thing elsewhere, but mine did it and when I dropped the truck off for service I talked to them about it and they said it would have to recalibrate whenever it was unhooked, they stated it usually does it on its own but sometimes they have to do it, he explained it was an easy process but didn't go into depth on how to do it. I guess because they want to make money later on with having to do it.

To be on the safe side because some dealerships can be greedy just tell them it's been like that since you got it so they don't try to say it's your fault and charge you for it. But hopefully most will recalibrate like mine did on its own.

No offense taken. I always go with real life experience vs “I saw it on the web”- it must be true!😀

I had the same message dealer recalibrated 360 cameras no problem ever since.Hope this helps.

Hey guys, got my truck back from dealer today after recalibrating cameras, no message about “not available”, but I can’t seem to get it to warn or assist in braking when backing up with something in the way. I cleaned all the cameras, anything else I can try? Thanks, flagman

Make sure the warning system is turned on under vehicle settings, other than that no clue.
