Start/Stop eliminator

Funny you mention this. I never use the app to lock/unlock/ASS but just tried it and your right. Mine doesn't work either. I never noticed the different chime sound, personally. Can you explain that one?

I just emailed them and they promptly responded back:

"Sorry to hear you had issues! The symptoms you describe happen when one of the two connectors is not fully seated. Please reseat both connectors, aiming for hearing an audible "click" when they are seated. We are confident this will resolve your issue. If for any reason it does not, reach back out so we can ensure your issue is resolved."

I am going to try this tonight. If that doesn't fix it, I may ask for a refund and look into the brand that I had for my Ram. Only downside, it goes behind the Sync screen.
No idea on the chime. Maybe it was disabled by the dealer before I took delivery.

Another funky thing - my heated steering wheel and seats were on when I started the car this morning (that's without the 4D device installed). They were not on last night after I pulled the connector and drove the truck for 10 min to ensure it was back to normal. I hope I have not disturbed any electronic gremlins.

I received the exact same response from them this morning. Given the tension you need to apply to these wire bundles and connectors, I wanted to be absolutely sure before another attempt, so I asked them if they had tested it with a 2026 and the current software rev.

Here is their response:

Yes, they do absolutely work in the 2026. Software updates would not change the core communication between modules in a vehicle. For the people who run into odd issues it is one of the connectors not being seated correctly 95% of the time. Our defect rate is a fraction of a percent but is still not zero so there is always a chance. If reseating the connectors doesn't work, let us know and we will swap it a take it as a return.

Pretty interesting that two of us on 2026 V8 have these issues.

I will try one more time. The functionality in the app is important to me - and also it is directly connected to the Connectivity subscription functionality, maybe the Security one too.

Anything you disturbed, should go back to normal when it's removed. I wouldn't worry about it doing anything to the existing programming. I don't know if you knew this but the heated (and vented) seats are auto climate controlled. I don't know how it is by you but its been cool in the mornings here but hot at night/afternoon.

Supposedly, the chime thing, people without the ASS eliminator experienced. It actually happened to me right after buying the truck. It went back to the old school Ford chime a couple days after I drove it off the lot. This was before installing the ASS. Supposedly, this could be caused software updates. After buying my truck, it went through like three updates and I think right after one of them, is when the chime changed for no reason at all.

With the Ford app functions, I am dealing with the same thing. I just never noticed because I don't use it that often. I remember right after when I went to remote start the truck, it didn't work. I thought maybe it was just a glitch. My Mazda does the same thing from time to time.

I'll mess with the 4D Tech one tonight, it's easy enough to access. Hopefully, it fixes the problem with the app. If I still have issues, I'll get a refund and I will go with this:

I would go with the old style one that goes in line with the button. All it does is log the memory of the last button press. Bit of a PITA to install but probably the safest way to go.

"ASS" is a perfect abbreviation for auto stop start by the way. It is in fact, a piece of crap feature.
Agreed.
Back in the day, if the engine turned off when you stopped, you had a fucking problem.
I guess that I am old school.

All fixed. 4D was correct. The one side of the plug needed to be pushed in just a bit harder, it clicked, now the app functions work.
