Tire Suggestions

Had you gone with the narrower tire you probably wouldn't have had to cut or have the rub issues, but again every person has there own likes and dislikes, some prefer the look of a wider tire others prefer the performance from the narrower tire, really it comes down to personal preference and there is no right or wrong answer. As long as your happy that's what matters. I wasn't trying to sway anyone in a specific direction just wanted to explain the basics that I have discovered over the years so people can make a more educated decision. One thing I find every where you look is that e rated tires are too stiff and that is not correct. They don't provide a harsher ride and that is a major misconception. One that I think leads people to spending money to try and avoid a problem that really doesn't exist ie buying new wheels, so that they can get a lower rates tire in the size they want. Again this only my opinion.
It is through these discussions that many of us even determine what we can and also should not modify. The veterans and all participants supporting this site have provided a wealth of knowledge, experience and opinions. I certainly appreciate every bit of it! and showing what does and does not provide the functionality desired, the real and unnecessary costs now and later...this stuff is priceless! Much appreciated.

Personally I wasn't too happy with the Nitto's. I had them on my FX4 and slipped all over when it was wet out. I replaced them with Toyo open country at3 and was super happy with them. My next will be a toyo RT.
I am looking into R/T's over AT 3's. I am looking at 285/75/18 - hoping that with 2.0" level I will be good to go. Thoughts gents?

The conversation here has helped me make my decision on the Wildpeak AT4W 35x11.5r18. Thank you all for the input and knowledge sharing, greatly appreciated.
What level/lift are you running so they fit?

I have the Icon stage three suspension with billet UCA sitting in my garage that will be going on. Otherwise I currently have the AS two inch spacer up front.
Will you be putting the tires on at the same time as the icons? Or before. Looking at the same tires as you but would only do the 2inch spacer. I’m thinking it should be ok but it’s always nice to know if someone else has tried it.

I will install the suspension prior to putting the new wheels and tires on. Let it settle a bit on the stock tires before the alignment.

I'm also looking into RT's. The AT3 was a good tire though. No complaints from me with it.

FWIW, here's a neat pressure vs load calculator-
https://www.engineersedge.com/calculators/tire_pressure_vs_load_16251.htm

Agree with @FaKtor34, re quality of ride on C rated vs E rated. From personal experience, but also thinking it out-

While there will be some additional stiffness with higher ply, it will be negligible at the same pressure. The E rated would become noticeably stiffer at higher pressures (north of C rated capabilities), but running both tires at 40 psi, with all other variables being equal, the difference in ride quality should be barely noticeable, if at all. Psychology is a powerful thing.

The primary reason I would be after C rated, would be less weight at the corners, affecting takeoff/power, and secondarily, MPG. And as also noted above, if max load of tire, at max pressure, is already at/near max load of truck, why add unnecessary weight at corners. Looks like the E rated AT4W do have the duraspec sidewalls if you think you need the puncture protection. But seems to be mostly a matter of C rated loads being less common at ~35" tires than E rated.

All of that said, I do like the idea of those C rated 35x11.5x18 AT4W's, when it comes time to replace my current. Hadn't noticed that availability before. Even have the same tread depth (18/32) as the 285/75 and 295/70, and at 5 lb and 7 lb lighter respectively.
