Towing at the limit of the Tremor

I would say you’re on the higher end of spectrum but still within safe limits. But I definitely wouldn’t go over that…
Thx, my mind is starting to wonder and look at #'s. Hoping we like camping and upgrade to an F250-Tremor in a couple years.

Always best to have a truck that is a little overkill so you have options. Most people buy entry level camper, then end up wanting to upgrade camper, and at that point need to upgrade truck too.

Few of my friends did that... Was the plan initially to do just that, now that we found this travel trailer, I was worried I may have over done it. Really didn't want an F250 quite yet. I drive for work quite a bit and wanted to give it at least 2-3 years.

You will be fine for now but if you ever want to go bigger on the camper your going to need truck too

May need some help... Usually just haul stuff with work 300-1500pounds ( avg 700-ish )
*I will be picking up our first Travel Trailer soon.
Jayco 25RB ( 800 hitch, 6100 empty/8000 loaded ) right at 30ft.
*Plan on adding RAS prior to towing, and WDH.

I current sit with about level, maybe 1" rake w/ 2.5AS level kit, and rides great.
Planned on a 27ft and lighter TT, but got a better deal on this one, Am I over-doing it, with my F150-Tremor ?
The dealer said I should be good with the weights, Weight Dist.Hitch and the RAS..

I'll second what's been said, you should be fine with WDH and sway control but near the high end limits. Sounds like you have a good plan. Good luck and enjoy. :)

In my experiacnce the factory tow ratings are pretty conservitive. And if your staying within them and have your setup correct, The trucks pull perfectly fine.
My last camper was 9k loaded, and my 12' pulled it for 7 years with zero issues all over the midwest.

The key is always the setup, Getting your weight right on your axles.

Anyone towing larger toys haulers with there Tremors?
I'm seeing that the tongue weight is pretty high on some of these. Basically meant to loaded to get the tongue weight down to a manageable level.
Not an issue for weekends we are going racing. But for weekends that we are using it as a normal camper, what do you guys do to add ballast back?
The tremor has 11k towing ability, with 1550 payload. I will be using a weight distribution hitch, and have air bags. (i know the bags don't change weights) The WDH will transfer some weight back to the camper, so i will gain some payload back.
The camper I'm looking at is 8700lbs dry with 1450 tongue weight. On a race weekend, it will be easy to get it down to 1000 lbs tongue weight (cargo in garage) which gives me enough payload for me and the family.
I realize this is on the upper end of the truck, but should be within specs.
What do you guys use for ballast when your not towing toys?
FYI my last camper was 33' (inside) long and 8k empty. Probably closer to 9k normal. And the truck handled it perfectly fine.

Also no mountains or grades. I live in iowa, and its flat.
Check your hitch. Most are 500 lbs without a weight distribution hitch and 1160 lbs with a weight distribution hitch.

I just took my new travel trailer out last weekend and put about 500 miles on it through some mountains and nasty weather. 2025 NoBo 20.3 beast mode - 730lb hitch, 5675 unloaded, 7175 GVWR. Trailer is 26' overall and TALL.

Current set up is - RAS springs, 8k Equalizer WDH, 35" E rated tires (at about 45 PSI in the rear).

I think the F150 handled it rather well. Plenty of power to maintain 70mph on the highway. Side winds are definitely noticeable but manageable. But without wind it towed very well. Averaged about 8mpg.

I may look in to a 4P WDH to help with sway putting more tension in to my current hitch doesn't help with the wind. But without wind I didn't have any sway at all.

That being said - my next truck will be a 250/350 for towing this trailer, but for the time being I do feel safely within the limits of this truck, but certainly wouldn't want to go much bigger or heaver with the trailer.

I have an excavator and 22' trailer weighs about 12K total. The truck can pull it has some sway and wouldn't recommend on a long trip. My regular F150 pulls it no problem. Thinking about test driving a 250 tremor. anyone have thoughts on those?

*Forgot to ask, should I run premium fuel? Previous F150 3.5 I ran 93 while tuned.
My Tremor is still stock ( No tune, YET :) ) Considering MPT or Ford Performance.

My gut says 93, but my wallet says NO. HAHA

The manual states that premium is recommended for towing. I used regular for several thousand miles towing and never really noticed any ill effects. But once I saw what was recommended in the manual I switch over to premium for towing.

Super Duty Tremors are glorious for towing just about anything below "I need an F-450 tow pig" level. I like my F-350 Tremor so much I replaced my previous F-150 with a Tremor model.

I’ve had 2 of them. 2021 Ford F-250 7.3 Gas Tremor and 2022 F-250 6.7 Diesel Tremor. Loved them both, highly recommend either.
To add: My 7.3 has an 8psi pro charger on it so if you want to see a lifted SD Tremor on 38s do a burn out let me know 😂

I'm buying a boat that is 7200lbs dry. Add fuel, trailer and equipment and I expect closer to 10k. I'm rarely driving more than 30 minutes to the ramp, but 2 to 3 times a year will be to the keys which is 8 hours.

I'm going to add air bags. I have Timbrens but I don't think they will be as effective at this level. I'll probably add a WDH as well.

I have been going about 4-5 hours to different races with my combo. I have WDH and air bags. I'm defiantly at the 11k number when loaded with fuel and toys in the Toyhauler. Handles it fine.

I'll probably skip the WDH since it seems most boats don't need them. I ordered the airbags though. This time I was lazy and got the full wireless system with onboard air.

I did tow my parents 32' camper a few weeks ago for the Rolex. I forgot to grab their WDH hitch so I just had to wing it. 30 minutes to Daytona Speedway and it was not fun. I assume actual weigh was around 10k. Truck was squatted even with the Timbrens. Didn't help that it was windy and rainy when I had to bring it in. I just used more surface back roads and went slower. Made it happen.

Yea WDH helps with pin wieght. WDH puts weight back on the front axle, that is a very big deal.

I'm realizing that for most boats, the axles usually are set in a good place to carry most of the weight, and it seems WDH are almost never used for boats.

I did get my airbags with wireless setup. Hopefully this weekend I can install them. Putting some new tires and a small level on the front too.
